hey guys just reading the ballarat thread noticed an article whats this about gisborne being poached by the ballarat football league..to play twice against melton m/south darley sunbury b/marsh and only once against ballarat sides seems a bit one sided to me and wasnt one of the reasons these clubs left our league was that they didnt want to play against each other all the time????????

Well done to all boys selected and good luck tomorrow :thumbsu:

Ground was good last week broman, in fact apart from the loss enjoyed my first trip to Macedon to the point where I can see myself making the trek to watch a few games in the years to come - nice atmosphere and quite a picturesque backdrop for footy (weather permitting Id assume).
your right it is a lovely place especially with the mount as a backdrop.however ive watched footy there on days when you wished you were anywhere else.on the other hand ive played cricket there and thought what are we going to do if this place explodes into flames.still if the weather is right its the nicest ground going

Bit of a pity the reigning Bowen medalist cannot crack it for a game in what is a showcase for the RDFL. It's not as if he is out of form.
Anyway best of luck to the boys this weekend.
The selectors might think they can get a few more goals with the other big men going forward .

I think he was implying that there is issues with the players and coach.. I am not sure about any truth to that, Peder's is a very good coach and I am sure that he would be disappointed with where the Magpies sit at present, as would the players who are a proud group...

Yeah i agree pedo is a good coach. But i think alot of the recruits just never panned out as they would of hoped. Also from wallan's finals side from last year, 9 or 10 are no longer there this year which hurts depth plus the injuries everyone knows about.
Also what was the outcome of the leagues meeting with rockbank??

I think one of the main reasons the Ballarat Eastern teams left the RDFL was actually because the 1st division of the league basically was about to go under. Sides from divy 2 started to refuse to come up to divy 1 for a variety of reasons which were fair enough and there were only a small amount of teams left. Some of the clubs actually enjoyed the then RDFL, the crowds used to be HUGE!

Good luck to your interleague tomorrow, it used to have a very rich interleague history. Just seen your team in a post, seriously, Cam Mccabe on the wing, the boy should be the walk up start onballer in the comp!
Good luck.

Have heard that there could be a couple of emergencies getting a game tomorrow, if true, who has pulled out and for what reasons? or have the coaches looked at tomorrows conditions and made the changes?

With Macedon being a great venue to watch a game of footy, will they have a couple of drums of fire wood burning tomorrow to keep the great atmosphere warm?

Congratulation to all who made the squads for tomorrow. I'd like to make special mention of Trav Smith. Not the most talented footballer around, but his work ethic is second to none, one of the most dedicated footballers and clubman you will see anywhere.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

i was living in melton when they joined the bfl.it had became a case of ridicules.they were to big for this comp ,the marsh have been there since almost forever.and melton south went a few years after melton.darley followed not long after .lets be serious ,small clubs like ours could not compete with towns like melton or the marsh

Well, we already compete with Melton. And Sunbury. They're not dominating.

No, they're not. Just being technical:rolleyes:.
im glad you were just being technical. lol. because in all seriousnes if melton ,the marsh or sunbury had their first teams in a side like romsey wouldnt be able to compete .we try to draw a team from 3000 ppl, melton have about 30000,maybe more

Melton Bloods would blow you out of the water. Sunbury lions would be disappointed if they won under 10 goals. We may be closing the gap, but in my view the gap it is still large. We simply do not have the funds that these bigger clubs have.

Melton, Melton Sth, Sunbury and Darley all went together back in 1997, and I think you will find a couple of these sides don't wan't to be there anymore either.

Yeah they all left at the end of 96 with it becoming a one division comp for 97. Gisborne left at end of 99, Craigieburn and Jacana left at the end of 00 and Wallan at the end of 01. Best decision wallan have ever made is coming back into the rdfl last year.

Some great games of football today, the under 18s chased tail all day but stole it in the last 30 seconds to win by 5 points.
The seniors was a very entertaining game, and not the result most expected, it was a tight tussle with the lead changing all day, in the end it was the SFL that got over line in the last quarter. 3 points the Final Margin
I think the final score was 7.8.50 to 7.11.53

It was quite cold, little bit of wet stuff but thankfully the snow stayed away :D

It seems it was a pretty good day all round for the league. What was the standard like? Any of the ex afl/vfl players play for the sfl?

So is this where the SFL start making excuses as to why they only fell over the line or will due credit now start being paid to the RDFL for where we are at? We've only ever laid claim to continuing to improve our standard and I think this shows that we're on the right track. Great job lads.:thumbsu:

I was under the impression we were playing the Southern League as a whole, so they were picking from all divisions. Not sure of other details as I was not at the game.

It was a mix of all 3 divisions and from all reports about 9 were div1.
It was wet it didn't quite rain but light drizzle parts of the day.
