Diggers next 6 weeks - Macedon, Rockbank, Lancefield, Riddell, Woodend, Romsey... GONE!!!

Not sure where you get your info from brick but you are spot on, sims fractured ankle in plaster for at least 5 weeks, Ruane broken hand probably could play but doesnt want to make it worse he seems to think 4 weeks, Clarke broken thumb 6 weeks in cast, Thompson overseas for 8 weeks and underwood broken ribs 3 or 4 weeks also marchewka may not play this week due to work commitments, here's hoping he gets out of this as we can ill afford anyone to miss this crucial clash.

Went to Macedon last week & enjoyed the spectacle even in tough conditions. Players seemed to give their all and the day was well supported considering how god dam cold it was. Sat near the coaches box all day and was interested to see how they interracted. I know geddies was in charge with help from Lancefield coach & centrals coach (not sure of their names) but who was the other big fellow who had a role, is it Sunburys coach Dickson? he seemed to be the most influential figure on the day. Well done to everyone involved the teams were very evenly matched.
Off to watch hawks v roos this week in a do or die clash for hawks. Things arent panning out as they hoped and a few cracks have appeared from what im told. But i believe they have had it over roos for s few years now so hoping they will bounce back into contention this week
That is our very own IMS pal.... more importantly what sort of a job did the big fella do ?

Wouldn't surprise me if undies played with broken ribs. I hate to say it but I agree with Brick Davis. Still if anyone get a group of players together to play there best football and pull off an unexpected win it would be Fitzy.

What is with Woodend this year losing another tall !Lacey,Considine,Forrest,Martin,Glenn and losing there captain johnston.Six players that featured in 08

hey just wondering has rockbank changed their jumpers for good? I saw on the website they wore their new ones in their home game vs macedon who they actually never clashed with. Personally i really like their new jumpers much better than their old ones, plus now they dont clash with anyone at all.:thumbsu:
Also does anyone know what the outcome was with their meeting with the league?

The new strip is permanent.

Maybe a way of trying to forget about what happend a few weeks ago. New Strip, new image hopefully. Good luck :thumbsu:

Had the new strip all year and has been in the works since start of last season. Nothing to do with what's happened in recent weeks.

I'd say the outcome of the meeting was probably a fine and I know they were asked to set up 4 ground marshalls around the oval on game days for crowd control as well as setting dry areas behind goals and around coaches boxes. Believe this is something the league may be introducing at all clubs.

Just some of the stuff I'm aware of but sure there's more to it.

Members of the RDFL board also addressed the club as a whole on a training night.

All down at the Rams are determined to take a zero tolerance policy with crowd abuse, umpire abuse and player discipline. They wanna move the club forward and good luck to them.

Does anyone realise that we are half way through the season.....where does the time go. My tips for the weekend.

The burra hosting the cats should be one of the big games of the round with diggers finishing off season 2008 for Macedon last year and this is 2nd vs. 4th, but no Thompson, Sims, Clarke, Ruane or Underwood will leave them very thin. This is the start of a big couple of weeks for the cats, and they can thank which ever god they want they only have to play Lancefield and Riddell once this year. Diggers have a great history of winning games they shouldn't, but that has always been with a near full strength side in and this is no where near it. Macedon - 42 points.

Not sure about where Melton are at the moment. One week they play good footy and then next they are getting belted. The Woodsmen have snuck into the 6 and will be keen to stay there with a great win last week to Sunbury. Maybe the week off has done them the world of good? I think that they will have too much class for Melton. Woodend - 35 points

Well the battle of the cellar dwellers will be a great one. Rockbank played some great footy last week and Wallan have been close for a while. I think both clubs would have been looking forward to this one for a few weeks and should be a great game. I'm going to go with the home side in a thriller! Wallan - 5 points

I said the week off did wonders for the woodsmen......it did the opposite for the tigers. I have always said that good sides never lose two in a row so the tigers will be put to the burner this week if they drop this one. Broadford played some really good footy last week and in my opinion could have put the burra to the sword if they were able to kick straight at the beginning of the game. It's going to be a good game but I am going to stick with the tigers. Lancefield - 24 points

I have to hand it to Kilmore. Twice this year I have written them off and twice I have had egg on my face. Great effort by the blues last week and somehow they have stayed in touch with the 6. Riddell finally put in a "Riddell" like score line last week. Could this be the beginning of a huge run for the bombers? Good to see Meacham continued his interleague form.....and can someone tell me if Kegga is playing? Sorry blues fans, I'm writing you off again. Riddell - 55 points

If a week is a long time in footy, I wonder what the last month has been like for the roos? This time 4 weeks ago some were suggesting that they were the real deal, now they find themselves outside the 6 (albeit because of percentage). Wallan used the flood last week to stop Moorecroft but Romsey were still good enough to get over the line. I wonder if Sunbury will employ the same tactics? Either way I am still going for the away team. Romsey - 32 points.

Good luck to all and have a great weekend.

watch out girls here comes the wallan train full steam ahead

Omni’s Tips for Rnd 9.

Another chance for the Broadford boys to show us all that free flowing brand of Football they spruik about at Lancefield tomorrow. Have faith in your boys Doona, don’t put players behind the ball, tell the midfield to pump it down to Taylor as quick as they can & you may be in with a show. Having said that, Tigers to bounce back with Ruffel to kick a bag and prevail in a close one by 11 pts.

Macedon to bring Diggers recent run of form to an abrupt end with a handy win at the home of the Burra by 25 pts.

I believe Romsey are leaving no stone unturned in an effort to get young Benny Richmonds clearance through so he can take the field tomorrow against Sunbury.
Little do they know they wont need him to get over the hapless Roos at present.
Redbacks for mine by 31 pts.

Riddell to get the points at home over Kilmore in a no brainer by 78 pts.

Woodend to do the same at home to Melton in another no contest by 65 pts.

& Wallan “SHOULD” be to strong for Rockbank at home as well by 43 pts.

Good luck to all & have fun. :thumbsu:

Round 9 and we have reached the half way point of the season.

Diggers recent good form will be put to the test at home this week, with some major outs and the second placed Macedon coming to town. Diggers do have depth, but to replace Ruane, Clarke and possibly Sims is going to be a big ask. Macedon for me, 42 pts

Romsey host Sunbury Kangas who after a winning streak early are now in the midst of their longest losing streak in the past couple of years. Romsey have found a new lease of life since the addition of Moorcroft and Green, and should be too strong here. Romsey by 23 pts.

Kilmore travel to Riddell on the back of a morale boosting win against the Tigers last week. Riddell are travelling very nicely, and opened up last week with a thumping of Centrals. Whilst the Blues were good last week, they have been inconsistent this year, and I expect the Bombers to beat them comfortably, 52 pts.

Woodend have strung 2 wins together for the first time in 09, and take on Melton Centrals who have played some good footy in patches, but lack consistency. I believe Wheelahan is injured, which is a massive blow for Centrals who would be the underdogs even at full strength. Woodend to continue gaining momentum with a 37 pt win.

Rockbank put their troubles behind them last week and nearly pulled off a huge upset, failing by a point to the Cats. Now they have the long trek to Wallan, who have been good in their past 3 without winning. As the Magpies are "full steam ahead" this week, expect them to win at home, 35 pts.

Lancefield to beat Broadford.

Good luck boys:thumbsu:

watch out girls here comes the wallan train full steam ahead
easy to say when your playing rockbank at home but given your season thus far i wouldnt be taking them easy they may just make you eat your words, be fair to say wallans season has been a huge dissapointment i was one that thought that they would figure prominantly come finals time but they have turned out to be a huge flop.
if this so called train is coming full steam ahead it will be interesting to see how you go against riddell, macedon, lancefield and woodend, that will be the test to see were your side is at.

Wallan over Rockbank in 3 grades of netball, A grade won by a walkoff. Not sure of what happened but we were up by near on 50 goals.
Both footy teams fairly convincing winners as well. Firsts by 9 goals and ressies by 30 points.
Hopefully Wallan train is gaining some steam towards the finals. Choo Choo.

The helpless Roos by 5 points.........

Yes they helped themselves to 4 points, today in what was a great game of footy to watch despite the poor conditions. It was a tight tussle with the Roos leading the charge to half time, in the 3rd with the Roos kicking with the breeze Romsey pulled together to kick a few and gain the lead, and coming home with the wind looked to be in a good position to take the game. With the Roo boys stepping up a notch hit the lead, With only less than 2 minutes the biggest name in the RDFL missed a set shot from about 20 out on a slight angle, then with less than a minute to go he marked again on the point post, only to kick across the face, on the full.
What a fantastic game with the crowd being very well behaved.
To a couple of Romsey fellas early on spruiking about gaaaaaaaaaaarrrryyyy.
Tonight they may be saying, No Gary no! No Gary no! No Gary no! Noooooo Gaaaarrry. :D

P.S the hot dogs from the canteen were perfect.
