Top 5 full forwards going on what i saw last year and recruits into league:
1. James - kil
2. Knox- hawks
3. Laurie - drest
4. Meacham - roos
5. Lancefield FF forgot his name.
6. Mcarthur/waters - mac (whichever plays out of square)

If Knox is half as good as his old man he will be a star.

Leigh Erwin (lancefield) best full back in the comp by a mile, played in quite a few leagues and this bloke would make it in any of them. Young bloke from Broadford goes alright to.
What about Ruckman? A few good ones coming into the league now.

Steven james at sunbury best ruckmen in country vic

The top forwards have been named, anyone wanna have a crack at the top backs and utilities?

My opinion on last years key backmen were

Irwin was far and away the best key defender last year, Grant Wearne was extremely impressive though, he is only young too, 19 or 20 I believe, he has a long way to go, he was super in the interleague game last year. Rob Ellis from the Kangaroos, if he can stay fit and committed is up there with Irwin as far as the best defenders in the competition go. Craig Thompson plays the key back role well too, never seems to have an opponent and does some great work setting up the Burra to attack in that role. Jason Allen, even though he had a really poor finals series has always been one of the standout defenders in the competition.

Jason hurt his shoulder in Rnd 11 IMS against Macedon, missed a few games, (which hurt Riddell big time) & never really fully recovered for the second half of the season. It hampered his marking ability also (which is a strong feature of his game) & seemed to affect his over all confidence.

I would expect him to be up & firing 100% this season & showing the Comp' that he is still one of the best Leaders going around ! :thumbsu:

With at least 5 of the class of 08 back in the fold so far at Bomberland & a fully fit J.A. expect Riddell to go up a notch in 2010.

It is good to see these players returning to Riddell, can only make the competition stronger, but my question, is the Bombers finals campaign in 2009 going to have an effect on the almighty "AURA" that surrounded the Bombers in previous years, I think that we have discussed in the past that the "AURA" possessed ensured that most Riddell opponent's were beaten before they had run out....

Wasn't he rumoured to be leaving Riddell for Sun Lions after last season?

Will Riddell cover the costs involved in getting Waddsy back on the field or will he. he would be a handy player to get back if re registered, but would be interesting to see if 2 years out of the game would make him out of touch.

I would be asking Wadden's doctor if he thought he could play this year.
Didn't he do his knee for moama early in the season last year? Not sure if he has had it fixed yet but pretty sure it was a full reco needed.
Cuffe number 2 ruckman with the arrival of the big Rocket down at the Kanga's, pretty sure a young bloke by the nickname of Bogut would be number 3, S james a good player but just might be playing a different possie this year.

Will Cuffey ruck in 2010 or play more of a floating on ball role?? Will be looking forward to seeing how some of these guys are used, nice dry days will make the Roos very very tough to stop, Fishendon, Cuffe, Sutherland, James, Sporle, Ploog x 2, Meacham, Innella, Fenton.. Its a big strong marking forward line that will be running around...
I would be pretty surprised to see Waddsy back in 2010, but again, he is one of those players, he has the ability to bust a game wide open, love them or hate them, these are the type of players that make a game great to watch...

Lancefield have picked up some very handy recruits, they will be right up there where they left off!

Yeah they are clearly team to beat again in my eyes. Some teams have more followers on this forum than others and thus their relative strengths are highlighted more often than those who dont get much exposure on here.

Lance
Ridd
Mac
Diggers
Roms
Sunb

Kilm
Wallan
Broad
Wood
Melton
Rock

Not much change from 09 really, woodsy boys only ones i believe might drop off pace a bit from what i am finding out over new year. In fact, its more a case of them remaining about the same whilst everyone else improves significantly.

Only time will tell I guess on that one pal......Realistically when viewing the bigger picture, the Riddell side of 08 was not to good for the overall RDFL Competition. I mean to be beating all & sundry by 20+ goals week in week out, it ment there was a public perception of inevitability out there about the season....... & that aint great for anyone..... except the Bomber faithful of course !
Last seasons results proved that Riddell are indeed fallible, whether that carries over to 2010 will depend an awful lot on "Mind Sets".
Riddells...... But more importantly the rest of the competition as well.
And thats really where "AURA'S" exist pal - in the mind !
And its a coaches job to make sure his charges have the self belief to overcome such things.

If I was a coach out there IMS, I'd be instructing my boys to just go hard & " Carpe Diem " ! :thumbsu:

I tend not to concern myself too much with rumours B 12 its a pointless endeavour. As for your other questions - Who knows ??? Perhaps. & Maybe !!!

Ive been to every session so far at bomberland and have only seen waddsy once, and he ate more sausages than the kids.....:D If he does return to the field????? The Riddell committee would welcome any Premiership player back into the fold, always have always will.

After the AGM the fixture has been finalised, It is up on the RDFL website now.
Also the Rolling meadows junior football club have applied to include an under 18s side to follow the draw of Melton. Clubs have been asked to vote on the decision. How would the inclusion of this side affect most clubs? and how would you vote.
