RDFL Thread 2010 (Part 1)

After the AGM the fixture has been finalised, It is up on the RDFL website now.
Also the Rolling meadows junior football club have applied to include an under 18s side to follow the draw of Melton. Clubs have been asked to vote on the decision. How would the inclusion of this side affect most clubs? and how would you vote.

I think its a bloody terrific idea. Eventually Rolling Meadows will be big enough to have its own senior side. Following the footsteps of Strathfieldsaye in the Bendigo FL is probably not possible but I don't have any objections to them fielding an Under 18s side. Only good for the comp IMO.

I noticed in the fixture there is a bye queens birthday weekend then again after round 12, Was it mentioned at the AGM if there will be an interleague game this year? i thought it went quite well last year.

There's a key dates calendar on the website. Interleague is scheduled for 3 July against the Southern League. Should be good show considering there was only about a kick in it last year. Hopefully they'll get more people too but then again it was virtually snowing last year up at Macedon.

well at the AGM the RDFL had $43,000 in the bank, about $100,000 short.

Major sponsers payments have not been put through the books or have been put through short.

mmmm the plot thickens. It will be interesting to see what the end result is after another 6-12months cleanup of the books....

I think the most telling sign of either incompetence or lazyness can be seen in report from the AGM that the Reserves naming rights sponsor, Moonee Vally Racing, had no knowledge they were sponsoring for 2009.

According to reports, they didn't sponsor anyone or thing during 2009, thus when the clean up crew came knocking to determine level of sponsorship, payments made, renewal for 2010 etc, they were given the news that "sorry, we didn't sponsor you in 2009". Of course, they didn't pay for 2009....

So before I am attacked by anyone here, this is what the board told all those present at the AGM.

I think youll enjoy the rdfl because theres always cold beer waiting 4 you after each game.
Also contrary to some reports the rdfl is improving each year.
As for the comp being slow and soft, well each 2 their own opinion i guess

when meacham was at pacoe i saw him get a broken nose from a full back once, before the ball was bounced, then meacham came back on with bandages wrapped all over his head half way through the 1st and kicked 16 goals so i would advise not to hit him, just food for thought

Thanks for the support maumsy1, I think i'm old and ugly enough to take this sort of shit form Dennis (foreskin) Cheese. Having played in a few leagues over the years, the one great thing the RDFL dosn't have is hero's like the previous name mentioned. All that aside, welcome to the league and let's hope it throw's a few suprises your way.

Hey Doona I heard this week a very disturbing rumour that Broadford may be struggling and that there is talk of folding. Surely this cannot be the case???

As for Meach have only played against him when he was at Pacco and I was at Mounts and he certainly will give Dennis plenty to think about
