. What would your advice be to the lower clubs of last year Doona ?

Wrong bloke to ask little pig as my advice failed to extract much good out of what I personally thought was a talented enough list - perhaps learn to play closer to 4 qtrs a week than 2-3 ;)

Quite interesting to see that Aaron James clearance has been lodged and already approved. I would have thought the league would have met with him before approving his entry. unless this has already happened.

didnt someone say earlier that the league is missing 90 odd thousand dollars??? maybe their new revenue raising machine has arrived

If this is true, the league should have got on the front foot and ran a night comp like years ago at Melton sth, good revenue early doors! Asking clubs at this time of year for fees, is unrealistic and unachievable for most.

Could always run a lightening cup of 2 X20m qtrs over at Meltons ground (Knockout comp) utilising the two ovals there and try and get all clubs in the RDFL to play. Charge a gate fee and split the money between all clubs that participate. The league takes the revenue from all food and drink sales. Easy money for everyone.

That would be proactive!

Only if your club falls into the trap of paying plenty of sign on fees. I would only hope clubs would start the year with enough in the bank to chip in a little extra at the start. especially if they have a hefty player budget!

The sides who were lucky enough to host a final might be ok

Hey All,
Anyone got a contact for professional ground line marking?

The guy we had last year, seems to have vanished. The other contact I got through SupaTurf, won't travel all the way from Moonee Ponds to Kilmore (maybe the $500-odd cost isn't enough for less than half a days work).

Anyway, if you know someone, please pass them on.

Found out today that Macedon have 2 practice games that will be intresting to many, Kynton and Gissy. Not sure of dates yet maybe someone else can confirm. I imagine their will be a decent turnout to both. I look forward to seeing how close they can get to 2 teams from a better league.

In Sunbury we are lucky enough that the council will mark the grounds at the start of the year, it is then up to us to maintain the lines. perhaps give your shire a call, if they wont do it for you perhaps they may have a contact for you.

See what Assumption do as well, maybe you could utilise their bloke?

Looks like the Cats are after some confidence boosting wins before their tilt at the 2010 RDFL flag.

probly will be a nil all draw.
should get trentham in on it to and play a round robin comp.
then they would all have someone to beat.

I'd be surprised  just pull $100 a week back from ya player payments and i'll do it for ya :D seems its getting harder and harder to get volunteers these days???

For as long I can remember we have always had 1-2 committee blokes (plus a few who drop in for a beer) who mark the ground at Broadford every Friday before a home game. Pretty sure the late Mr. Fowler did the same down at Wallan for years . . . . . isn't that part of being on a committee or doing ya bit for the local club???

During the season our blokes do it, but the 1st one of the year we get done by a professional, then just go over it when it needs doing again...

I'll give you $100 a week Doona....find some jobs for ya!

Thanks but no thanks, as you know a few heads up there dont speak too highly of me . . . . . besides it's gunna be bad enough if Im still living in Kilmore when me boys wanna start playing sport :D

Good to see the clearances page off to another flying start this year

The clearances page on the RDFL website leaves alot to be desired, it did last year too.. Its probably a little disappointing as all throughout the clearance period everyone within the league wants to check out those pages, it is guaranteed site hits giving exposure to league sponsors and also any messages that the league wants to pass on to its members.. Instead, rival leagues are getting the site hits and the coverage for sponsorship etc because they treat the clearance page with a greater intent level, making sure it is up to date, and everyone from our league then has to trawl through opposing leagues websites to see what is happening... Web hits can be an important advertising tool, hopefully it is looked at and our league's site can be more proactive in the use of an up to date clearance page to add value to the site.

Reminds me, I need to drop around mini-kits for your kids, suck them in young so they play for their local side! haha
