The redbacks look to have landed a GUN midfielder. Dean Smith-Whiting from the Knights.
Dean was playing seniors for heidelberg at 15. He will tear up the rdfl

would the fact that the redbacks have signed chris heffernan from essendon,justin murphy from carlton and wheatley from melbourne be the reason behind your flag prediction slyone? maybe next time you predict them to win the flag DONT say it will happen if yak has a good year. hes a second rate player.and now it would appear hes a third rate player. hopefully rocca is worth more than all of those recruits kings army.otherwise your game,set,match theory is in tatters.i retract my previous statements, redbacks are certainties now
 
It seems to be very quiet out of Macedon and Woodend, Mac were out to take another big step forward, lost their bowen medalist but apparently picked a FF. missed out on Climas, have they been busy behind the scenes? Woodend, somebody on here said a couple of months ago that they have some big name recruits lined up, well clearances have opened, still yet to see any on the site, but we still haven't been given the names of these recruits.

9 weeks until round one, time to start showing your cards boys.:D
 
Just read on the Goulburn Valley thread that Paul Wheatley's name has been linked to the Shepp Swans where former Demons Adem Yze and Russell Robertson have already signed. Will he be at Romsey or not?

I dont think Wheatley will be at the Redbacks, but who knows, they are starting to build an all star ex AFL/TAC cup side...

The names linked with the Redbacks though are going to make them a very very tough side to overcome in 2010...

I wouldnt call Yak second rate donegal, has made the RDFL side the last 3 years, i know of, has won back to back B& F's at the club and may have been close last year behind Garrrrrry, was beaten by a good kid in the GF but idefinatly wouldnt call him second rate! Big Lance tried to entice him over to Lalor but he stuck with his mates and took a cut like all the other Redbacks to make room for Garrrrry & Green, so a quality bloke to have around the club as well.

If blokes were taking pay cuts last season where are they getting all the $$$ for all these ex-AFL guys this year? Gary taking a pay cut? :D

I think jobs could be involved, but that is the business of the Romsey FC, if they can recruit ex AFL footballers then they need to be congratuled! Players taking pay cuts to play in a GF was worth it.

Handy midfielder/flanker who is super fit. Has played senior footy in the RDFL with a few starring games but is probably only a fringe player at a side like Lancefield.

Found out today that Macedon have 2 practice games that will be intresting to many, Kynton and Gissy. Not sure of dates yet maybe someone else can confirm. I imagine their will be a decent turnout to both. I look forward to seeing how close they can get to 2 teams from a better league.

Ridiculous.. Before Gary and Shannon turned up, the Redbacks were borderline finals contenders.. The addition of these two made them premiership contenders, granted, the Redbacks didn't win, but they were able to do something just as important.. Hold onto these guys for 2010, and now look to be adding more AFL listed talent.. Any club who signs these guys cop it for "spending" all of thier money, before Romsey, it was Riddell that were "spending" all of thier money, yet they are still around and still able to maintain a strong list with a fairly high level for RDFL standard of player payments.. Romsey didn't spend all thier money, they are able to recruit and improve again, if they fall over and are unable to pay, then they have gone outside means, if they dont and win a flag, then it was worth every penny..

As i said, lot of money to come 2nd!! Money doesnt always buy success!! (unless supporters and the club think coming 2nd is successful). Think we all saw that in the 3rd term when they choked!!
 
Can anyone tell be how my loved hawks are shaping up heard a little at start of pre season but no more info lately! Not sure if is a good sign to here nothing or a bad sign??

The Hawks are generally always a little quiet at this time of the year, they tend to keep the cards close to the chest.. When the time is right, the info will come through.. All we have at the moment are rumours, have heard they have signed 2 big forwards, possibly with ties to Cooky's days in a higher level of football.. Also that young Matty Krul is moving across to the Hawks.. Wait to see how that one plays out...
