As a coach in the BFL we have been very appreciative of the umpire support the RDFL have provided, and truth be told, they have been doing a pertty good job. I have to thank though the RDFL for sending over Semmo, who i remember umpiring my first game of senior football back in 1994 (we all thought he was past it then). When we joined the BFL we did not think we would see him again! Was an interesting day and the Ballarat boys definitely struggle to adjust tothe RDFl style of umpiring and play, which we actually enjoy as a past RDFl team. Fair dinkum though, AFL great John Swooper Northey nearly had 5 heart attacks he was that angry with semmo. We did not think swoop had that much life left in him, but he was pretty keen to catch up with the umpies for a chat after the game! Thanks Semmo, you were like life support for the old fella.
If you know how Semmo umpires, which everyone should know by now, then their should be no problem. We have had him a few times this year and he has done a good job. Mouth off and he will destroy you! keep your mouth shut and you will receive a fair go, guess his human after all!

In regards to AJ no one knows why he has a crack at the crowds except the man himself. I do know Jamesy and i have always supported him. From the junior days when I playd against him. I know for a fact, cos i was there when the crowd got stuck into AJ about his pregnant (at the time) mrs. The things they said were vile and disgusting. How is that good natured fun? I do believe AJ has over stepped the mark on more than one occassion so i'm not sticking up for him. however every man has his limits!

Don't get me wrong I love talking trash to players as a player and a spectator! It does come with the game. But why should a player(s) be hounded cos they are good? RESPECT is the key. Im sure Jamesy would cop most on the chin. But the ones that go over the top when Jamesy refuses to bite on the mild comments are really the ones to blame.

The initial squad has been selected and clubs will be notified this week, training will start next week on the 16th, just waiting on ground usage confirmation...

Poorly run from what i can tell - first sesion on wednesday when the players havent even been told yet?
I hope im completly wrong.

also hope its done properly like last year but looks like they wont have the time. Hard to beat the sfl over on their grounds.
Dont want the rdfl to come out looking below standard.

There is no doubt that there have been factors that have made it tough this year, and agree that it is not acceptable.. The fact is, with changes to the office some of this has been delayed, but as long as we receive the support of the clubs and the players that we received last year, and hopefully even a little stronger this year, we will be in a strong position and have a side that can challenge the SFL over there... I just hope that everyone continues to support the concept as most of us are very proud of our competition and what we as clubs have been able to acheive in what has been a short time in football terms. We as a league have been abused, critisized and made to feel like a basket-case from surrounding competitions right throughout that period, right now, WE as a competition have a chance to show everyone else just how committed and strong we are as a competition and how we will not only be competitive, but prouder and stronger than anyone they throw at us....

As for poorly run, I know that there has been several weeks preparation already done by the coaches, and with the support of the players and the clubs, we will have an interleague program that is every bit as succesful as last year...

Thats a positive sign ims, and i know that gemini and yourself have been working fairly hard behind the scenes on this interleague team which is great. HOWEVER I think it would have been better perceived if someone from the rdfl actually let us know what was going on with interleague. Once again clubs are left in the dark. If you hadnt posted that, we would all still be in the dark about it and its only around the corner from taking place. I might sound like im bashing the idea of interleague, But its the complete opposite.I AM SUPPORTIVE OF IT AND I ALSO HAVE A COUPLE OF MY PLAYERS VERY KEEN TO TRY OUT FOR IT. Hopefully the rdfl contact us soon, otherwise there may be eligable players taking a well earned holiday on that particular weekend:confused:

Couldn't agree more, and the impending announcement should be taking place very shortly, but I understand the frustration and hopefully everyone will provide a little bit of leniancy to the new guys in the chair and get behind the program once the announcements have been made... :thumbsu:

Thanks Sly :thumbsu:

Last year was just a fantastic experience and I am certainly already pumped and looking forward to this year, cant wait to get started this week and get the wheels in motion for what will be another great year for interleague and the players and bonds formed within the RDFL... It is also just outstanding to see the support from the coaches of our clubs, while there have been rumblings that some club administrations are not overly supportive of interleague, the support from the players and coaches especially is exactly why this league is so enjoyable to not only support, but be involved in.... :thumbsu:

Good squad no doubt but a few names missing that i expected to see: J Cuffe, Raune, Detman, Blade, Colliss. I know some have missed some footy because injured but if fit they would have to be in squad wouldnt they?

You are right, if some of those names were fully fit, they would have been in the squad without question....

But of them i think only raune has missed a decent amount of footy and i beleieve he is back now, the others have played most games im quite sure? blade out of form though i know.

Blade has missed the last 4 or so weeks through a knee injury and only returned last week.
Ruane has a hamstring injury, Dettman has been playing and may be unlucky, but from all reports hasn't set the world on fire with his form this year.
Collis is a little unlucky, but with so many players capable of playing the small half forward, rotating on baller role, you cant put everyone in the squad, we would have 100 to choose from...

Three massive games of football this week, can't believe we haven't started talking about them (although I do love the chat about interleague)

Sunbury Kangaroos Vs Riddell - The best team in the comp faces another challenger, how will the Bombers respond, they are clearly the standout team in the competition, but the last challenger faced walked away with the points.. The Bombers will be out to prove a point...

Romsey Vs Wallan - No Moorcroft, No Dawson, the Redbacks seemingly on the brink, a loss here will almost put them out of the race, but the same can be said about the Magpies... What a game, in any other week would be match of the round....

Macedon Vs Diggers Rest - Two sides sitting inside the top 6 with challengers breathing down their necks.. The winner will consolodate a spot, the loser, under pressure by the sides just behind them.. This one is well and truly game on!!! (Diggers also knocked the Cats out last year, can history repeat)..

The best come back I saw with Jamsey!

I think it was one day out at maybe Romsey, after taking a mark about 45 out on the boundary an old bloke leaned over the fence and yelled at him, " If you think your so good, why don't you kick it on your left" He lined it up put it on the left as requested and straight through the middle. Turned around and said there you go, the bloke smiled, nodded the head and applauded him.:thumbsu:

Thats Gold!:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Is Ross Waters getting a kick at Woodend?? Would be lucky to get a pair of shorts to fit last time I saw him.

I just hope that the injury ravaged, battle weary Bombers can be at least competative against the might of the all conquering Kangaroo outfit this week champ ??? :(
