It's an advantage that both teams are based in the same town, but with the fixturing issues forcing all 3 games to be played on a Saturday, there would be no possible way for the Sunbury Kangaroos to host the final whilst playing elsewhere.

Would possibly be different if the opportunity to host a Sunday final this week was available.

I was just curious to the thought process of how Sunbury get a home final after finishing 3rd. I congratulate Jack B for his response about not using the venue as an excuse, based on the weekends performance, Rupo have a big chance against Sunbury especially if they can have a fit 22 for a whole game, but as was mentioned earlier in this thread Sunbury have lost less than a handful of games at home in the last few years. People have mentioned the difficulty it would pose to have Sunbury play at another ground and host a final game, however shouldn't that have been considered when planning the finals venues, it was pretty obvious from mid season that they would play finals. I agree it will be a good money spinner and a big crowd would be expected, who gets the money by the way, Hosting club? Playing teams? RDFNL?
 
Sunbury hosting the final against Rupertswood on a day that features all three football matches is possibly the most logical decision to make, considering the situation with fixturing during the RDJFL grand final weekend..
The season opener at the Eric Boardman Reserve was an amazing day.. massive crowd in attendance and arguably the biggest crowd that the Kangaroos would have had in several years.. given that its finals and neutral supporters will also be in attendance, the crowd will be bigger.. regardless of the weather.. :) Either way, its going to be an exciting day and it would be hard to back a winner.. especially in the Seniors at Kilmore!

Normally when things don't seem right you get on here & explain the process. But with this one its just all about, we are all idiots & there is NO problem here.
The fact of the matter is - The fixturing was stuffed up - We have a clash with our juniors ! And it didn't have to be. We had plenty of scope at the START of the season to get the Fixture right.
WHO made that mistake pal ? Its never happened in the past !.............&
Why isn't the best Final (1v2) being played at the best venue ? (Kilmore)

I apologise, I didn't realise that I called you an idiot.

I get on, explain the process, only to have a "conspiracy" theory response that is posted to sound like fact. Not interested.

Amazingly none of this was about 12 months ago when the home ground advantage and conditions suited the home side...

Oh & I don't remember anywhere using the term "Conspiracy Theory" either ! I must have forgotten you could read my mind my condescending friend ! :)

Hey, I also couldn't give a stuff WHERE we play. But (Once again !) I think both Riddell & Diggers deserve to play at the BEST venue on offer...............I must say though if I was in a position of power to choose which Final was played at MY ground, I'd choose 1st v 2nd too pal.......;)

Do you know what pal, if you'd just come out & say - there was a mistake made with the fixture, we now have a problem that has compounded itself & it is gunna take a little manoeuvreing, but we will be back on track in week 2.
We could all understand that ! Hey we are all human, mistakes get made !
Its when no one wants to admit their mistakes OR take responsibility for them that people start throwing around phrases like "Conspiracy Theory"...................Oh that's not right.....................Who used that term now ??? :eek:
