thanx meach!!!!! Its amazing how hard it is to get any feedback on this site!!!!. It takes the captain coach of an opposition side for us to find out. Probably easier if we all exchange phone numbers and start texting eachother. Lets get some moderators that arent so tightly bound to clubs b4 this thread is finished.

Mongrels back!!!!!! Nearly 8pm and no results or comments about tdays games. Ill say it again, this is the worst thread in victoria.
Woohoo, Mongrels back!! Doing a great job with Shreky too mate. Spoke to a bloke during the week and he mentioned that Mongrel is held on a pedastal down Geelong way...u are at Romsey too!!!

Sorry for not carrying the thread for you Mongrel I will try and do better in the future, not hard for others to pop their head up and write something constructive or is the only way this thread can operate is if I am writing in it?

cheers norman! Yeah I enjoyed my footy days down geelong way. And yeah pedo and shrek have given me the opportunity to coach the twos and im loving it so far. With 10 players missing from the seniors tho I must say yesterdays game gave me grey hairs. Bloody frustratingbut the boys played a great 2nd half. We had about 8 under 18s in the side that really stood up and led the way.

Apologies mate, was up at 4am for work, left Rupo at 6 and was asleep by 8am last night.

For what it's worth, Rupo kicked 4 goals in the opening 8 minutes and I thought "shit here we go again" then midway thru the 3rd we were only 3 goals down. Rupo kicked 7 unanswered to end the 3rd and we may have won the last by a couple of points. Apart from an 8 minute and a 15 minute lopsided portions of footy I thought we more than matched it with them. Managed to keep one Brennan quietish, as another got I think 5 goals, Gaunt looks a rippa and congrats to Webby on his 200th and thanks for going out your way to come for a chat after the siren.

Social rooms chock a block, a nice young photo of Mongrel in the trophy cabinet too. I don't think it will take Rupo all that long to really become a force in the RDFL.

Lift ya game mate :D

Who are the ten seniors to come in and who are the ten to go out at Romsey?

Some names that appear missing from yesty 's list are ..... McNaughton, Farmer, Mitchell, Dawson, Brewer, Petroro (all topliners), the young ruckman Broos (Quillrat) didn't play, didnt see Wilson's name either. Add to that the two Calder boys (Lever and Blair) and Leigh and Mark McInerney (currently in the ressies) and I'd suggest write off Romsey at your own peril.

Gee sorry pal. I guess this must mean "the Natives are revolting" ???
And here I was thinking that they were only just a wee bit repugnant !!! o_O

I better start taking my pc to away games now to keep some blokes happy.

Anyway the Bombers got the job done once again in a pretty uninspiring "Yawn" of a game over at Melton to the tune of 35pts. :thumbsu:

Absolutely cant wait for the really big games to come around in rounds 12, 13 & 14.
I think the league has dropped the ball here & let the whole competition down once again this season by not fixturing that the big Five (Sunbury, Diggers, Romsey, Macedon & Riddell) play each other twice during the H&As.
The Clubs want it, the Players want it & the Spectators love it & flock to these games in their droves !
Poor form from WHOEVER was responsible for the draw.

Fairly comprehensive 10 goal win by Sunbury yesterday against Macedon. Great to see the young boys coming in and contributing in a positive manner. Sunbury were missing Welsh, Ploog, Allport, Johnson, Pollard, Fishenden and McGovern yesterday, which is a good sign as to their depth this season.

Injured, resting whatever, just proves what OMNI is saying in terms of the draw. Let the big boys play each other twice as it seems that just like last year things are a bit off getting serious.

Hey OMNI you didnt seem to think my kids belted Riddell up the other week when we chatted. Seems Rupo were warned that all Doona's mob does is go the knuckle ..... what a wank

At the risk of sounding like a whinger I do agree the draw needs to be massaged a bit more. The wooden spooner of the last two years has one of the tougher draws. Of the sides they play twice only one didn't make the finals last year and there the side omnipotent keeps sayin will be the big improves.

Well I certainly didn't let your little secret outa the bag mate !!!:D
You've had no reports of late have you ?
The score line in your last couple of games seems bit more encouraging pal ?
Gives you something to work with I would have thought ?

On the subject of Rupo'...... I must say I had a little chuckle when I read Peddo's quote in the local paper after the Redbacks just scrapped home against Rupo' in round 7. He said "Rupertswood will trouble ALL the top sides" !!!
Mark, Mark, Mark ! What are you smoking man ???
It left me somewhat scratching my head Doon' & wondering just how much "Trouble" the Bombers were really in last week after they just fell over the line with an 84 point victory over the much hyped Rupertswood outfit !!! o_O
Mark also went on to say, "Rupertswood will be there come Finals time" !................. Well I'm not too sure what our old mate Peddo means by "There" ? But surely he CANT mean that they will finish in the top six ???
An underdone Sunbury only just eased past them in round 1 by a lazy 6 goals.
At home in round 2 they let an insipid Macedon kick a shit load of behinds before the Cats Al Meldrum decided enough was enough, & single handedly put the contest out of Rupo's grasp.
God help 'em when they have to come up against Diggers Rest at home in two weeks time and a rampaging Brent Tuckey at the top of his game !!!
I'm guessing the acid test and possibly the chance at finishing in the top six come seasons end for Rupertswood will be next Saturday when they travel over to Macphersons and have to take on Melton. The ground is soft & slow over there now, so Rupo's speed & agility will be pretty much nullified. It'll be close quarters tough footy. Just how the bigger boddied Melton boys like it !!!
Make NO mistake the next two weeks should show us plenty about the make up & intestinal fortitude of the Rupertswood Football Club.
Will they be strong enough, & tough enough to match it with Centrals. And will they be skilful enough & talented enough, a week later to be competitive with Diggers Rest ???

Watch this Space !!!

Could'nt agree more with you pal. :thumbsu:
You'd think the draw would be a NO brainer wouldn't you ?
Top six sides from previous year, play each other twice then play the other 7 sides. That's 17 rounds for mine. That would do me until we have a 14 team competition ! Then it settles at 18 rounds. Fine !!!
It aint Rocket Science for Christ sake !
.......................................................& Yes, I know Clubs make submissions about individual fixturing requirements. That should still be fine under the system set out above. And if it's not, then TOO BAD !!! Our draw has been dodgy & unfair on some Clubs & way to generous for others (macedon) for way too many years now and needs to be fixed, PRONTO !

you sure they didnt say doonas old mob? i went to watch the game at broadford yesterday and there were a couple of things that didnt look good.

Went up and watched the big fella Baz play his 300th game fair to say without suspensions he would have been at about 350 by now wouldnt he :D but congrats to bazza 300 seniro games is always a great acheviement

Overheard some chatter amongst some of the broadford supporters whilst getting a hotdog that they are looking at geeting Alan Ezard to play a game against Kilmore. surely that cant be right? he would nearly be 50 now wouldnt he?

Chris,Chris,Chris, The Rupo side that played against us was not the same side that ran out against your mob, five changes including Leigh Brennan who would have been very handy. If you read the comments about the game, you will find that the supporters enjoyed watching a very high standard of football, something we are all missing on a week to week basis, something you have already touched on! The only time i have seen Rupo this year is the game we played them, on that form they play finals, if they play like they did against your mob, they may not. I have also been informed that they have more $$$$ than your mob and mine put together, so start selling those raffle tickets because next year they just might be the team to beat! Your mob alsways very difficult to beat at home! Rupo may be a better side at their home ground. Their coming and thats good for our league!

One suspects the creek dwellers have a chip on their shoulders with the arrival of the young Rupo team.

On another note Broadford trotting out Alan Ezard - surely you are taking the P155....

Was great to just watch a game of footy on the weekend, good to catch up with all the Romsey folk too, was an interesting contest up at Lancefield, the Tigers took it right up to a depleted Redbacks side for most of the day, the turning point being a send off of a Tigers midfielder who just got outsmarted by Matt Davidson, Romsey kicked 6 goals in the next 15 minutes to effectively put paid to the contest, but the Tigers battled the game out all day.

Gee Shaun Austin looks in great touch for the Redbacks though, at the end of the contest, despite the injuries, they still had the depth and class to get the positive result.

You're spot on there young mate.. that was a game for the ages.. anyone who was there that day would agree that it was one of, if not one of the best games they've seen this year.. it was a great arm-wrestle with more than half a dozen lead changes and neither side conceded an inch.. most of us have been around football long enough to see two teams show up and be prepared to play quality football at a high standard.. that game was it.. the Eagle has landed at Rupertswood and of course they fell off the bandwagon a bit against the Bombers due to injuries and having one of their most inexperienced sides of the year but when they are switched on, they will make some serious noise.. especially if they're in the top six .. if they sneak into sixth position come the finals, who-ever finishes third will have some concerns..
