Still wasnt a grade
Wheres all the juniirs goin to come from to dominatr the 19's like rupo claim they will?
Who from Rupo is making claims they’re going to dominate any competition / any age group? You’re talking about junior footballers and potting them. Rupo’s record of junior development speaks for itself. Other clubs have always been happy to throw cash at young Rupo players to lure them away from the tank once they were ready to progress to senior footy. The time is right for a move to the EDFL.

Rupo are making the right move for their football club unfortunately RDFNL is dead man walking thanks Rod and all your mates at Goldfields

Has rdfl announced salary cap yet?
Edfl announced $100grand.
Rdfl will probably go $75-$80grand?
Good thing or not

85k salary cap.

Riddell District Football League clubs will have a salary cap of $85,000 next season.

If Rupo go to EDFL as suggested it leaves 10 teams
Are Rockbank still looking to move to WRFL?
Always rumours of Wallan going back to NFNL, especially with juniors there
Is RDFL sustainable with 8 or 9 teams or would leagues like Heathcote, Outer East or Central Highlands make bids for RDFL teams too possible join them?
Would hate to see RDFL become non existent but are board working towards a strong and vibrant RDFL moving forward

Anyone know whats happening with the RDFNL for 2021 and beyond? Has there been any talks of what the future looks like juniors and seniors or is everyone just sitting around waiting to see what Rupo do. My mate told me yesterday from Geelong that they have commenced a full review of junior footy down the coast surveying all clubs, looking at changing age groups after the kids missing out this year including under 19. Wondering if anything has commenced here or is there no plan and the downtime of the last 6 months wasted? If Rupo do leave, the comp genuinely does become the Riddell Diggers Football Netball League!!

Hereing that RDFL have been working hard to brake the links with Goldfields.
Dont think theyre sitting around doin nothing. Age groups werr changed not long ago
The age groups line up with tac age now

Good on them if that's the case, Goldfields are an extension of AFL Victoria aren't they so that is a breaking of links to them as the key funding body?? That's something but hopefully as stated the time is being spent on addressing a number of issues that seemed to be brewing before the season began. The EDFL has announced it is now evens in Juniors (10,12,14,16) still has 19's so with a few EDFL clubs and maybe one more in the area, I am sure there will be a number of junior footballers that opt to not have two bottom age years in a row and go and play even age groups so they get a top age year not to mention in a better competition. Reported other junior leagues considering going age group by age group for 2 years to ensure young kids get the development they may miss by not getting a top age year this year and as I say AFL Barwon are now talking to clubs about the same. From my reading, the issues that get raised on here are fees to play, number of teams and league structure and junior structure. Hopefully splitting from goldfields is not consuming all the time and those things are being addressed also.

Riddell District Football League’s move to become independent progresses

The Riddell District Football League continues to move closer to standalone status for 2021 with senior club presidents backing the move to sever ties with AFL Goldfields.

Ben Higgins, Macedon Ranges Leader

The Riddell District Football League continues to edge closer to stand-alone status.

The league, centred around the Macedon Ranges, is in the process of severing ties with regional body AFL Goldfields.

The move has been backed by senior clubs, confident the league can govern itself more efficiently than an outside administrator.

Since the 2020 season was cancelled, the RDFL, AFL Goldfields and AFL Victoria have continued to hold discussions on a path forward.

RDFL president Brenton Knott said the process wouldn’t happen overnight but was happy with the feedback from clubs.

“We’ve informed AFL Goldfields that we won’t be purchasing any of their services,” he said.

“We’re in ongoing discussions with AFL Victoria regarding our future as a stand-alone league.

“We’ve liaised with our senior clubs in the last couple of weeks and they’re excited about the prospect of moving forward without AFL Goldfields.

“We think the time is right with the conditions – COVID, sponsors, all the challenges of running a local football club.

“If we can remove a layer of government/management/fees, we think that will offer our clubs a more sustainable future.”

The Ballarat Football League is also in the process of severing ties with AFL Goldfields, which also manages the Central Highlands and Maryborough-Castlemaine leagues.

Romsey president Eden Jedwab said the RDFL was better off in the hands of people who knew it best.

“I think we need to have control of our own league,” he said.

“We’re a unique league by our size, geographically and we’d be better being administered by our own people.

“To have control over what we do is very important and we haven’t had that for five or six years.”

Melton Centals president Paul Sinclair agreed, saying the league already had the people capable of leading it effectively.

“We’ve got enough quality people within the league to administer ourselves,” he said.

“The league is full of quality people and quality clubs, so we’re better being masters of our destiny rather than rely on others.

“The league is definitely on the way up.”

Despite the season being cancelled, Knott was pleased with the growing club unity.

“The pandemic has created a lot unity amongst our clubs,” he said.

“At the start of the year, we had the bushfire appeal game, and that created a lot of goodwill amongst the clubs and that has flowed on even though we haven’t had footy.

“It’s glass half full for us, we’re positive moving forward.”

I like the RDFL keeping going and wanting to peel outta the toxic bfl and I will love going along to games, I just don’t want it to become the Diggers/Riddell football League. Give all the presidents a day and run it ya own way. Maybe take the GF back to Lancefield for that true small country feel.

I read on the EDFL bigfooty page that some of the Rupo senior players are not overly happy moving from the RDFL to EDFL if the transfer goes ahead and a few players could be leaving. Anyone confirm or deny this?
