I've been rewatching a lot of old Eagles games and building up a bit of an archive throughout this pause in the season. Born in '93, so too young to have any understanding of the first flags at the time, but obviously I've seen them after the fact many times. What I've not watched is a tonne of random home and away games from the late 80s/early 90s, the ones that might have been a fun game but aren't the classics or finals wins etc. As a result, you miss a lot of stuff - imagine for example what Eagles fans in 2030 would think of Mark LeCras or Josh Kennedy or Nic Naitanui if they only watched finals from this era.
I started going to games in 1998, so I saw a lot of the Premiership brigade play at the tail end of their careers, but maybe don't appreciate how good they were week in and week out at their best.
All of this preamble is leading into me asking the people who watched it all live - was Brett Heady the best player in football? I swear to god, every game I watch he's just ridiculously good, either kicking bags or just everywhere setting up all the scoring. Am I just jagging games where he starred? Is he underrated in the eyes of history - his name comes up often, sure, but never on the tier of the Sumich/Matera/Worsfold/Kemp etc. Does this bloke deserve more recognition, because whenever I watch a 90s game it seems staggering to me he didn't win some sort of individual honour.

Heady was an out and out gun.
Not sure why he doesn't seem to get the plaudits of some of the others from that time period but he's a lock on the HFF for any "all time" Eagles in my book.

I don’t think he was underrated at the time. He was a fantastic player. Not only extremely skillful, but tough and very courageous. I’m sure his team mates walked taller with him on the field.
I think the issue might be twofold:
1. The quality of players around him. That early 90s team was incredible.
2. Longevity/injuries. He had a number of injury-interrupted seasons and eventually had to retire at a youngish age.
So IMO people looking back that didn’t experience the era themselves tend to focus on the exploits of other ‘big name’ players that were more durable.

I had a lengthy argument with my old mate E87 about whether Heady or Phil Matera would be squeezed out of Team 20 first. Looking back I think I underrated Heady because (a) I’m a stats nerd and (b) I was pretty young when Heady was playing so I didn’t properly appreciate how good he was.

I don't think most people appreciate how good Phil Matera was either though. He was the original defensive small forward. His chase-down tackles from (sometimes a mile) behind were incredible. Scoring-wise there was very little around him in the forward line to take the attention off him but he still got it done. I would have loved to have seen what he could have done in a stronger team. If you're picking players who are elite at their position then there's no way you could leave Phil out of the forward pocket of the all-time Eagles best lineup IMO.

In that 1994 Season video Mick Malthouse mentions that in the rd 2 game v Adelaide at half time Heady was as crook as a dog and still managed a huge 2nd half to help us come back from a 20 point 3 quarter time deficit.
He was a gun Heady.

A mate of mine was being blackmailed back in the day. He had allowed an online stripper to watch him beat off on webcam, recorded it, and then threatened to send it to his friends and family if he didn't send her a fee. The fee was never paid and she did actually follow through with it, she sent the vid to a number of family members, he was able to log into his parents FB and delete the message iirc at least.

No clue. Only that after he did what he did the girls stream stopped and then she started playing his own performance back at him. My guess is the girl was a recording and he was engaging with a scammer instead.
