What happened?

Spent a couple of days pouring over options and short listing them until we found the perfect property. Contacted the host to make sure the fire had a child protection guard (it didn't) and she told me that she was going to be at the house on the dates we wanted. I cannot understand why she wouldn't blank out those dates on the availability calendar if the house is uhh... not available.

Went back through, found a couple of others but nothing we fell in love with. Booked a chalet instead (1 of 6) located on 350 acres. Paid a bit more but it sounds pretty much perfect for us.

3 breweries (that I've checked) within 15 minute drive. Could walk through paddocks to get to Colonial if they'd open up for more than takeaways!

That’s the thing with Airbnb, you have to deal with the average joe and the average joe is a moron who is just trying to make some money off their own place. At least with a proper chalet/hotel etc it’s people actually doing their jobs.

That's pretty much what I've found. I'm yet to use Airbnb but it's not for lack of trying. I go through the process every time, contact the host and then it all falls apart. The reviews on where we've booked sound really good so I'm happy with how it all unfolded. But I'll probably skip the Airbnb step next time.

I've used it once and it was seamless. Luck of the draw maybe.

Yeah Agent said he had a good run with it too. Probably not so bad for the executive type properties. But if I ever need a full 4+br house down South again I'll book the same one in Yallingup as last time. It's cheaper and better fitted out than most alternatives (like Smith's or Regency)

I've always used stayz, never had an issue

Yep have used Stayz without an issue when visiting Jurien Bay. I had less requirements to meet back then. Multiple areas to drink beer ☑️ Back yard grassed area for cricket and crocodile mile ☑️

I'm too paranoid about hidden cameras to ever get an AirBnB.

I byo camera everywhere we stay now.

Season's over, Adam Simpson only wins games because of Pyke/Mitchell/Jaymie Graham, and the Eagles spent too much time taking a knee pregame to adequately prepare to take on the Suns (who spent the exact same amount of time taking a knee).

Footy's back!

We'll probably get more from this season if we focus on Quinz's love life

If the boys would have spent more time working on their skills in the wet and less time reading Quinz's workplace office escapades, they might have had a chance. Arrogant as always by the club.

So, semi-rational football fans of the Eagles board, how's everyone feeling after that?

My default Eagles setting at the moment is positivity, as the club have earned our trust as a competitive if not elite side in this incarnation for about six years now. When people melt, we usually make them look silly, so I was happy to grind out the rusty first half. During the third quarter, it became apparent that this wasn't just a phase, and we were actually in a hole that we weren't going to climb out of. I think I came to grips with it throughout the garbage time fourth quarter.

Now, two or three hours later, I'm kinda fine with it. Do I just not care that much anymore? Have I been spoiled by all the success that the thought of us being wasteful and not enjoying more success right now doesn't burn me like it should? I mean I'm not happy about it, but it hasn't impacted my evening really, I've just gone about my day how I would for the most part.

Anyone else not completely raging, and sort of just very "oh well, it happens" about that one?

It was probably the perfect game to go through the 5 stages of grief TBH.

DENIAL: Probably the first 10 minutes of the game. Sure we looked bad, but it was just a few lucky breaks against us and clearly wasn't a trend
ANGER: We play well and kick four goals in five minutes. Anger we haven't had it the whole time, and that we didn't truly put the foot down with the ascendancy
BARGAINING: Shit, we are a couple goals down here, would give my left nut for two quick goals
DEPRESSION: Shit, we are six goals back, we are going to lose unless something special happens
ACCEPTANCE: Basically two minutes into the last quarter.

Obviously the rationalisation of the game has come a few different ways to people. For some, it is because of the whole Rona break and we are slow. For some its the dew, for some it doesn't matter anyway because the season is a write off, and for some it is the end of it because of one game JK and Hurn should given the old yella treatment. Everyone kind of takes it differently, and there is no real correct way to do so when you lose a game you should be winning 90% of the time.

The last few years has had me rethinking things like my personal sports fandom (moreso in star driven sports like NBA and NFL where it seems more fun to cheer for people than it is for laundry particularly if you follow people before they reach the big leagues) and also to an extent how much I enjoyed watching the two previous games today as a neutral, one game which was quite a good contest and display of footy (Bris vs Freo) and one which was perfect Keystone Cops (Carlton vs Melbourne). Maybe sport as a leisure pursuit is better without being too vested in one particular group of people in blue shirts against the ones in red and just enjoying the contest?

But I say that, but I absolutely guarantee that come next week, I will make far more of an effort to make sure I am free for the Eagles vs Lions game compared to any of the other 8 on the schedule, and should we be lucky enough to win will tell anyone who will listen that we are back and sportsbet should move our price in to $1.20 for the flag.

Didn’t watch. Didn’t listen. Was equal parts surprised/shocked/disappointed when I saw the score

But tbh football has taken something of a back seat in my life these last few months and I’m kinda struggling to give a shit

Maybe as the season progresses I’ll care more but I was surprisingly ambivalent to tonight’s result

I take the Simmo "it's never as good or as bad as you think it is" after games like that. But...this was in theory our easiest game in the hub and we shat the bed. Games against two of last season's top 4 and the current ladder leader upcoming and we could easily be 1-4.

Yep. I've got bigger issues in my life than my footy team having a poor outing. I think the thing I'm most disappointed about is how easily our game falls apart when conditions aren't perfect. There just doesn't seem to be a plan B. As I remarked in the positives and negatives thread, we also seemed under conditioned which is probably a bigger concern for me. I don't think we'll see another performance like that in 2020.

This season was always going to be a pile of shit anyway after the last few months, not much interest from me this year.
Looks like Hurn and JK might be done though, would we have looked better with say Rotham and Williams (with Oscar playing permanent forward) in the side?

I’m much more relaxed than I thought I’d be after a pantsing by GC. I think it’s because the entire year has been a complete clusterfreagle. So I’m either:
a) numb, or
b) better able to cope with disappointment.

So, much like with Quinny, for me I think it might be a little bit of a and a little bit of b.

Speaking of me, which everyone likes to, I've been very good lately. Just keeping to myself and relaxing.

But the universe keeps tormenting me. This isn't a joke either, I sat down to read for a bit just a moment ago (Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, quite enjoying it) and what is on the second page that I read?
