Work Christmas party tonight, left right at the point of things getting messy. It's like there's this aura and hum over everybody at the peak of drunkenness before it all starts going downhill (very fast), where times are good and morale is high, then before you know it people are crying or running off down the street.

We have an all day event this week and I think its going to get messy. Will be an effort to pace myself.

Best and worst part of working in a sterile public sector office environment is that the Xmas parties (and any other social events) are unbelievably lame and G-rated. Means you never have fun but you also never have to put up with messy drunk interpersonal dramas

Yeah I'd say you're spot on (this was also a public sector event). This time however we had a booking at a pub from July that they lost and our social club organiser decided to have it at her place and bought a heap of booze and everyone was cutting loose. When I left everyone was having a good time but yeah, another hour and it would've crossed the line.
