Did Dean Cox ever wear number 2?

I was talking to my brother the other day and we both seem to have memories of him wearing it for a season before going back to number 20. This would have been in the early 2000s I reckon.

Does anyone else remember this or is it a Mandela effect kind of thing?

2 was in mothballs for a couple of seasons after Kemp retired before McDougall took it in 2004. Can’t remember Cox ever wearing it even for a game.

He did wear 46 for half a game because his guernsey got blood on it or something.

I thought it was for a season (or even a preseason) rather than just a game.

I’ve got some old records at home, I’ll have a look at those.

AFL tables has no record of him ever in 2 and if AFL tables is wrong, God help us all.

They struggled with our top ups and Castore dramas this year.

Yeah, that was the first place I looked.

It's just odd that we both remember it.

It's like the time I found out Nelson Mandela died imprisoned on Robben Island, rather than the popular misconception of him being set free and eventually becoming president of South Africa.

I thought he spent twenty years digging a tunnel hidden behind a poster?

Cox may have been #2 in a video game, because I vaguely remember this as well. Like AFL 2002 or something.
The old Joe Misiti treatment

Unless they duplicated the template for Gary Moorcroft

I remember in AFL Live 06 I won the Brownlow and Coleman with Quinten Lynch kicking something like 155 goals and 4 behinds. He got 3 Brownlow votes in every game.

What a player. What a man.

For lols I also used to play Daniel Kerr in the ruck.
