My son got his first pair of footy boots this weekend and the nostalgia has me wanting to grab a pair and roost goals from all over the park. Except for the last two weekends we've gone for a kick and I can barely walk properly on a Monday.

Puma Kings, black and white K-leather. Can't go wrong.

Deep heat come Monday morning

He picked some Pumas (what a guy) but they're black and orange (even better, I built a car with these colours before he was born).

I should probably get into better warm up/down habits, but it's infectious having a run around with someone who doesn't need to do either. It's flat out all the time haha

I played kick to kick with some ten year old pathetically trying to play on his own during COVID when I was going for my walk/run/jog thing

Reminded me how the oval ball was never my specialty.

I would hate to know the hours I accumulated playing footy on my own when I was bored as a kid. Roost ball or handball into the air encouraging the ball to spin on or bounce back, then it's play on baby, hit the ball at pace, score a goal in the most elaborate fashion possible.

It was more an after school activity for me than a weekend thing, unless I was staying at the old boys place where he had four perfectly aligned trees in the front yard to be the goal posts.

If you'd ever driven past Norris Park Stoneville in the late 90s/early 2000s you'd have seen goal sense to put The Frenchman to shame.
I can't fathom how those fellas kick a rock hard old leather ball with their bare feet

I think I'm going to avoid it until the season is about wrapped up and then binge like crazy. Might start rewatching from S1 though to kill the time

I like the break! Keeps me more interested and appreciative. To each their own I guess.

I forget some of the intricacies with a week between eps, and with Succession it's as much about what's not said as what's said. Expressions, reactions etc. Such a great show. Will be sad when it's done

For me I find little annoyances like lack of accuracy in the continuity (maybe not in reference to Succession) can frustrate me. Or if I dislike an actor/character's performance then bingeing it magnifies it.

There are exceptions - I found waiting weekly for Better Call Saul for it to creep along at a snail's pace somewhat off putting. But then bingeing it I found myself enjoying it so much more.

I had that problem with story line progression watching Breaking Bad week by week the first time around. Bailed on it a couple of times before watching through a few seasons at once and falling in love with it.

A break between episodes is good if everyone is on the same schedule so you can get into the discussion and review in the aftermath. You lose that with a binge.

I read an article on the HBO vs Netflix release schedule, it makes a fair point in saying that the buzz on a new Netlix series maybe lasts 2-3 weeks as everyone gets through it so fast. Whereas a weekly episode keeps the buzz going for a few months which is good for the shows funding.

The thing is with weekly releases, it has to be a good show to maintain the buzz. If it's average, the binge dump might be the best way to get eyes on the whole viewing time.

I like the way Netflix did S4 of Stranger Things; release the bulk of it, then wait a month to drop the finale episodes.

I don't hate weekly episodes as much as the binge drop but I feel like a combo of both, such as dropping episodes in bunches of 3 every week, might be an optimal way forward.

Probably why they were referring to HBO as their shows tend to keep the buzz going. I think they were comparing The Last of Us and Squid Game, and saying how the Sunday night HBO can't miss show may be coming to an end with all the streaming services. I don't entirely agree, after Succession there will still be House of Dragons, Last of Us, next White Lotus and whatever new content they drop.

Legitimately did, I used to deliver pizzas around there....I don't remember being wowed by anyone playing footy in the park there though
