Tom Cruise has a questionable off-screen life and is the spokesperson for a fake grifting 'religion'.

However you cannot deny his commitment to his craft.

Top Gun
Top Gun: Maverick
Rain Man
A Few Good Men
Born on the Fourth of July
Eyes Wide Shut
Collateral
Tropic Thunder
Edge of Tomorrow (top 5 sci-fi film of all time imo)
Vanilla Sky
Minority Report
Interview with the Vampire
Mission Impossible franchise

All better than just okay films, many of which have left a legacy, and nowhere near the same without him imo. Hard to think of a long-time actor or actress with fewer missteps than Cruise (The Mummy probably being the only one since he started that's a true flop).

Only watched the first one but he was ok in it.

Once you watch the TV show with Alan Ritchson in it and you can get a better feel for the character and how imposing he's supposed to be

Was he any good as Jack Reacher? I couldn’t bring myself to watch it because physically he’s nothing like how Reacher is described in the novels.
He was Tom Cruise. Take that as you wish.

Absolutely agree. Rated the TV show

Did they make more of the TV show? I saw a little bit of it, but acquired it through various means which meant I was prompted automatically about new seasons coming out.

I tend to find I am one of the few who really liked Vanilla Sky.

Fun fact: Penelope Cruz played the same character in both the Spanish original and the English remake.

I enjoyed it. But I was also really stoned at the time of watching so I may have thought it to be better than it was.

Fun fact: if Penelope Cruz married Tom Cruise she could be Penelope Cruz-Cruise.

Season 2 is coming, Ritchson posted he'd got even more jacked for it

I haven’t read the books so didn’t mind the two Reacher movies Cruise made

The Jack Reacher TV series was a level above and watching Alan Ritchson play the character it’s easy to understand why book readers hated Cruise in the role

I watched the Cruise movies, then the show, and then read a few of the books.

Reading the books it absolutely makes sense why book readers would despise Cruise in the role. The guy is supposed to be physically intimidating from a quick eyeball and Cruise ain't it. Ritchman is amazing in the role, can't wait for S2. I only hope that people don't get too attached to the secondary characters specific to that book/series to the point where for whatever reason, they continue in the show (the entire point of the books is Reacher just rocks up to a new joint, meets a new crew of people and does Reacher things.

I loved the TV series. Never read the book but I find that Reacher needing to be big a little bit cringe
Yeah, GoT producers should’ve got Peter Dinklage to play the Mountain. So cringe that they made size an issue, it’s not like it was a major part of his character or anything
