I remember when they came out with bangers like Stranger Things, House of Cards, The Crown, Narcos, Orange is the New Black, etc. Everyone thought we were entering a new era of quality TV.

Now theres a gazillion streaming services and they're all competing to pump out as much slop as they possibly can. Meanwhile the shows that are the most streamed are the 30 minute episodic ones that came out 10-20 years ago.

Creative content across the major mainstream genres is in the toilet right now. Music, movies and TV are all very very poor.

I am, however, older than I used to be so there is a risk I am entering 'back in my day' territory.

While on a similar topic, anyone been following the JJJ Hottest 100 Australian songs? How TF do The Veronicas get in at #3 ??

Noticing even the quality of streaming sites like spotify are also declining.

Also came across a streaming platform called nugs on a few days ago. It a platform where artists upload their live concerts on their. I personally love live albums but not sure if that kinda app is worth paying for on top of having other streaming sites.

Re Happy Gilmore 2, most of Adam Sandlers work is keeping his mates in a job. I was surprised we didn't see Kevin James at some point.

The movie itself was passable but mostly forgettable.

Jeepers, nothing like a breathless whingey rant to give you a headache.

However I tend to agree with a lot of what he said, but there are still numerous exceptions.

Good directors are still pumping out good movies. Look at Nolan or Villeneuve for example - their releases are like a worldwide event and always quality so they're out there.

The accessibility of slop is what makes it more noticeable. I liken the modern Netflix trash release to what "Straight to DVD/Video" releases used to be but because you knew what it was at Video Ezy you just didn't consume that media. With streaming it is so much more accessible especially with Netflix having that early decent run of releases that they are more in the public eye.

I know people that like that song. There were people voting that are under 25 so they are unlikely to vote for anything from pre 2000. I thought the top 100 covered a good mix of songs over the years. Interested to listen to the 101-200 songs too.
