For starters were not talking about a pick in the 20s, its pick number bloody 1!

Of course im not saying only pick st kilda supporters but when a potential number one draft pick has failed his psychological tests, been moved to successful clubs as a junior, hates losing and he and his entire family follow collingwood the writing is on the bloody wall!

more of a worry is his combine testing. was just meh and middle of the road. didnt really have anything that stood out and for pick 1 as a midfielder, you probably need that

I just assumed he had a dirty room. Liked the video of McCartin training already.

That would definitely be a a big reason why we didn't pick him.

But not sure his combine results would contribute to him wanting a trade?

Eli will be a midfielder before long. Like Saunders as well they should be utilised a lot more with their huge motors. Think Saad definitely fills a need for us.
Exactly. We need Eli and Saunders running up and down the ground all game long ASAP, not being stuck predominantly in the forward half.

Why? what bets? So are you saying we should only recruit people who went for the Saints as kids just because of Tom Boyd?
What are you saying? Its nonsense. Petracca has never said this anyway. Its complete crap.
The game has changed massively over the past few years. Contracts are almost meaningless and young players are willing to move around before they've really established themselves as a player. As a result, psych testing is a major part of recruiting, and often clubs visit families and such to get a good feel of what the young kid is like. We need to draft based on, not only talent, but whether the kid is a risk of leaving, either through homesickness or other. Not saying this relates to Petracca, because, well let's face it, it's just conjecture at the moment, but it is definitely something we need to take into account when we make our decisions.

We're a Melbourne based club, so we have the opportunity to profit from others' losses, but we're also not one of the desirable Melbourne clubs. Regardless of what team they supported when they were growing up, if they're the type to piss off to Collingwood or Hawthorn as soon as they get the chance, they we're in trouble.

Because Collingwood are going to be such contenders over the next couple of years.

I am going to enjoy watching us beat Collingwood and Carlton a bunch on our way back to the top as they splash around in the bottom 6 for the next few years wondering what the **** went wrong to their glorious clubs.

Ahmed's signing made me feel proud to be a Sainter. I wish him all the best in 2015 and beyond.

There is something about Petracca that stinks. Maybe it's just a really bad media presence, but I thought Christian came across as arrogant, self centered, and attention seeking leading into the draft. My natural instinct was to dislike him, and I actually was hoping that we would take Brayshaw, who seems the total opposite. The more I see of McCartin the more I like about him, and the more confident I am that he will deal with the pressure the No.1 mantle brings. I am not so confident that he will come on as quickly as some of the others.

Like every other Sainter, I am just excited with what we have got. I think the eggs are well spread across a number of baskets and I can't wait to watch McPaddy, Goddard2.0, Lonie Ranger and his draft cohorts debut. Hopefully that happens in 2015.
