Really loving what is coming out of the club at the moment. The genuine excitement is palpable and it hasn't been like this for a number of years.
Disagree. I've felt this way numerous times going back to around 2004. At the time, I had little idea of the true state of our club, our list, our administration and our finances. So I figured we just recruit and "reset". That effort led by Mick Martyn and Daniel Harford didn't fly. Since then we have hung our hat on numerous messiahs, off ground and otherwise. I want to believe it's time. Not sure I have enough emotional energy left for another crushing misfire.

As such, we will re-set the list through giving everyone a clean state and starting fresh, and letting things fall out where they will.

Did this once at a pool bar wearing budgies...still fuming they kicked me out...

Every pre-season I convince myself that this year is going to be different and the club is going to find form and be one of the better sides.

In retrospect this hope has been based on an unrealistic expectation that the best 22 will somehow find another gear and miraculously improve its output. The success of the club was pretty much left in the hands of the footy department and they never seemed to be thinking much beyond the next training session.

Now win/loss ratios seem to be taking a back seat to the bigger story of Carlton reinventing itself. We are being encouraged to share the 'journey' as the club works its way back to being a powerhouse of the competition. Expectations of immediate results are being carefully managed and there is a common narrative that is coming out of the club encouraging supporters to get excited about development, potential and team spirit.

Bound by Blue and the repeated mantra of unity is being used to solicit buy-in for the clubs real-time rags to riches story. But there is more to it than just words.

In Bolton's latest interview he was asked whether SOS actively consulted with him about list management strategy and his answer was something to the effect that of course he does, because we are united as a club. I thought that was a fantastic response because it conveyed not just his belief in the unity concept but how the concept was actually being applied in practice. It was a tangible signal that the culture of the club was starting to change and that people were beginning to work together, rather than competing with one another.

It's pretty exciting. I can't wait to see the new game plan and the talented youngsters having a crack. If they win that would be awesome and if they lose it will at least be interesting to see how the team progresses under the new medium to long term plan.

Carlton fans should be really excited about the 'Reset'. Finally the club has realized that the last 10-15 years has been a dark stage for this once proud club.

Personally I would rather 'Reset' rather than stay a mediocre club going no where, it will be a long and hard transitional period for the club but in the long run it is what is best for the club. Still about 5-10 players that I would expect to be shown the door by the club in the next couple of years and a few more players to come in via trades and draft.

The club has already started the 'Reset' by recycling 15 players and a majority of the coaching staff have been moved on by the club. This years draft has also set us on a very good path for the future with Weitering, Mckay, Curnow, Cunningham and Silvagni being selected in the draft and then Gallucci and Glass-McCasker being selected in the rookie draft a week later.

Next year should not be judged on wins and losses but rather on how the team bonds together and so that Bolton has a clear understanding on what he has to work with and how him and his coaching staff work together as a unit.

Also today, for the first time Carlton reached 25'000 members by the first day of summer which is good for the club in regards to financial situations with the club being behind by over 1 million dollars after this years financial report was released.

So get behind the boys this year and beyond and keep supporting the club through thick and thin and get back to where we belong which is the top.

There are a lot of really good signs coming from the place since Bolts arrived. Last year Trigg was sprouting about engaging better with the supporters but didn't seem to get any traction. The hovercraft always seemed like a "looking backward" rather than "looking forward" move... and a great metaphor for carlton's season.

From reports, Bolton has brought a new energy for change to the club. There is talk of unity. It seem that bolton has motivated senior players to become teachers and mentors. Its really important that bolts doesn't loose the senior players as he develops the junior's.

The club now needs to back up this football department unity by "re-setting" the club that has been floundering for decades.

Carlton is a Club not a business! if supporters feel welcome and engaged they will become members. Respect your supporter and they will support... great to see "real" open trainings! Respect!

Hats must go off too to the Bound By Blue tag as well. Great line and so much better than the amateur hours Can You Smell What We're Cooking? crap.

Bound By Blue looks to the past, but doesn't dwell on it, and it also acknowledges that we are all in this together, and only by working together can we move forward, united.

The marketing team has really stepped up. Does anyone know if we have a new team for our marketing? It's significantly different and much better than, well, a bloody long time!

Feeling positive and its a new start,

I started to type but this pretty much sums it up for me, couldn't have expressed it better.

Pre season is a tricky time too...full of optimism

That's understandable but this time things genuinely feel different, as there's next to no scope to turn back now..

For me it's essential that this time it really is the real deal. The reset doesn't need to go perfectly - nothing does - but it needs to be genuine, consistent, thorough.

If it proves to be a haphazard marketing ploy that's promptly followed by bringing in Travis Cloke on a trillion dollars, firing the coach and two board spills... my relationship with CFC will be irreparably damaged.

Time to properly change as a club. It LOOKS like it is happening. Time will tell.

I'm relaxed about the main ingredients of a sustainable and successful Club - they are there and in place.

The Pratt era is over and Mathieson has got what he wanted - change. What should/could be done is that the Club appoints an independent financial advisory service - from any major investment bank to look into the contract of sale regarding the mathieson Pokies - and do a proper cost /benefit analysis - because I doubt that the nuff nuffs running Carlton a few years ago - could read financials let alone negotiate a proper deal. If the deal was structured well- teh Club will benefit enormously from the cash that comes from that nasty source - the same source that has underwritten both Hawthorn and Collingwood's financial ability to invest in themselves for over a decade. if the deal is not particularly great- sell them off to Woolworths and bank the cashola.

The appointments of SOS and his outstanding trade / draft alongwith the appointment of Bolton and a modern younger coaching panel ( along with ousting of Collingwood regime) has seen membership patterns improve markedly already - I'm not surprised

So where are we now? Exactly where the Club should be - rock bottom but with an influx of new players untainted by past practises. A couple of ridiculous contracts to see out/through - perhaps catalysts for trade coming will see the last of the old regime baggage gone within a couple of years.

The more opposition players see Cripps type characters emerging and playing for Carlton - the more likely they are to wish to come to the Blues. I have no doubt that SOS and Bolton wont be paying overs for anyone from anywhere - ever.

I take the term 'Resetting' as a general comment of the club finally gets its arse into gear and embrace the draft and no more was quick fix type recruiting/messiah type figures.

I don't expect us to land a 'big fish' type player in the next few seasons, we'll be taking the Dogs route and just hit the draft hard.

I also think now the supporter's mindset is reset though. I think most sensible fans realize a rough start to Bolton's reign is most likely (1-5 or maybe 0-6) over the first 6 weeks of next season, but that's okay.

As Bolton said a few weeks, don't look at the wins column as a sign of growth/improvement, its all about the process.

A 3-4 win season but with Weitering, Curnow and another kid (Cuningham) all playing 15 plus games each and I would be satisfied.

Reset= line in the sand
Reset= whats done is done
Reset = look forward not back
Reset= we have learnt from out mistakes and we go forward with new knowledge and enthusiasm.

regardless of terminology we all know what's going on. We've been "rebuilding" or what ever, for three or four years. We've had a few hits, but suddenly it looks like we're doing a good job of it. Just gotta enjoy the ride, support the club and hopefully we'll all get to enjoy some real success.

Well lucky for you re-set doesn't necessarily imply any positive connotation.
