Two points.
1. If he's similar to Easton Wood, then why are the Bulldogs so desperate to get Lever?
2. How much money is Wood on and can you post a link to where his salary is listed?
He plays a loose 3rd tall role, relying on intercept ball?

He has potential to be more though which is why he is getting the big money thrown at him, and the Dogs lack genuine KPDs?

Its time to think outside the box. The fans have to do a Costa here. Every crows fan needs to start buying their make up or their partners and daughters make up from Jakes wife. 60,000 fans buy $50 a year in make up (assuming 20% profit) and thats $600,000 a year.
simpler idea would be to start up a gofundme page every time a gun player is coming out of contract

I think he's gone...what the girlfriend wants seems to take precedence these days
We need to draft players who do not have girlfriends then find a local one for them !!
Heard from very good source that reason Adelaide loses players is because they are too tight with money..cant quite understand that as you have to spend a certain percentage of salary cap, as do all teams, but maybe we give more to the lesser players

What sort of money would he be asking. The talk on Kelley and Martin is $1m/year and he's not in that league . He is not the best player in our side so $6-700k seems fair. Talia is our best defender.
The Vic media seem pretty certain the Dogs have put $800 - 850K on the table and that's before the Collingwood interest.

He's not worth that IMO.

His worth is in what he offers and that's a Rance/Taylor like defender that can be a more shutdown defender, yet offers a fair bit offensively.

Unfortunately though, it ia a common thing for people to think. "What's the point of earning more and just pay it it all in taxes", ignoring the fact that you're sill better off even though you are paying more tax.
it might be common amongst people who aren't ever going to be faced with the choice.

One thing that annoys me about the Lever situation are the calls that he is just a 3rd tall.
be annoyed then, and while you're at it watch him play.

he plays like a 3rd tall whilst his 1 on 1 defensive work isn't good. see Curnow, C.
its not size, it's who he is and most of all how he plays.

Im trying to find the interview or post from Lever in 2015 where he said "stoked with the opportunity the afc have given me, look forward to playing the next 10 years here" haha
prick sees $$$$ and runs
to be fair you'd have to be monumentally gullible to believe a word of that. also, wasn't Bad man boxing tell us all along jake was all about the cash and soliciting offers?

You would think that the bulldogs if they are offering so much to lever don't rate their own defenders like Easton woods, very highly

Like a lot of premiership players they can get overhyped and aren't worth that much so Wood probably falls in that category with the fact he has a premiership medal but isn't actually that good

He does instinctively play the chop out role I agree. I also think for the most part he's coached to play it because of his size. He's rarely given a lock down role and it shows when he does. My point is in simply stating he will never be any good defensively without allowing him any time for development and improvement. He did get beaten by Curnow but if we're being that specific then Hartigan is also a 3rd tall as he lost a lot of 1 on 1s early.

You're not a third tall because you lose one on ones, your a third tall because of the way you play or don't have the size imo. No way Hartigan is or was ever a third tall.

Would you care if either left if we won the flag this year? As much as it sucks losing quality players, it's had no impact on our ladder position for the past few years.
There is a limit to how many of your best and most promising players you can lose without damaging the team though. It would be OK if we get an equally good player in trade for a position of need or multiple top 5 picks as they might be nothings or Wayne Carey's and will take years to produce anything. We really need the player.

Anyway, his girlfriends make up posts are all about building up clients in Adelaide - so if you need to hang your hat on some good signs....

The way everyone was going on about this I thought Jake's girlfriend was developing a makeup line. Looks like she applies the stuff for weddings etc. doesn't need to move to the big smoke to do that. But I expect she can leverage off Jakes contacts pretty well. Good to see some young girl starting a business and she could probably do temp teaching work as it develops.

I was thinking the same to be going so hard after Lever would suggest a lack of quality in their backline and at this so called offer it would far outweigh what Woods is worth

They obviously are paying him all woods is worth which would be around 500k

Very overhyped overrated player by the sound of things

Initial draft position doesn't mean squat on a player's trade value once they have exposed AFL form.

That's like suggesting Sloane or Fyfe would have less trade value because they weren't too 10 picks or that Fremantle should have given up a top 3 pick for Gumbleton because he was originally a top 3 pick.

What salary clubs are prepared to off said player is a much better indicator of their trade value.

Clubs don't offer $500k+ salaries for players worth a third round pick.

Who thinks he's staying?

We've heard this all before, it's a well-worn path, all signs point towards going, stalling for time is a dead giveaway, if he hasn't signed by now blah blah blah.

There's something just a bit off with this one. Can't quite enunciate why.
I think he's going, but I thought Dangerfield was staying, so I'm hoping I'm just really shit at getting a read on these things! :D

If he hasn't signed by September I'll start to worry
Unfortunately his manager couldn't get through North Korean customs prior to the finals and now just gonna focus on winning the flag with no distractions till after the season...but don't worry he loves the club.
