Somebody already bought up Levers knee. Have a rough idea on Levers potential, Francis yet to prove he is or isn't capable. What he did in his draft year would still be relevant due to injuries halting his progress. He's still tall, wellbuilt and a natural footballer. Probably still roughly equal value on the open market this offseason, yeah
Roughly equal value if you throw in a first round pick thanks
FFS even the vic media are rating lever as likely to be the best defender in the AFL in the near future

Depends who they mean by others, if it means Lever, Gov and an elite mid, then it says the rumours are real, if just the first 2, then they aren't.
Rumours Sloane will announce new deal today as well, we are clearly getting ducks in a row for something
Lever & gov & mid is what we had last year

That does account for any CBA windfall

I think it says that we had room in our TPP to fill in 2017.

Tex's contract was signed with the looming need to cover a big short term offer to Dangerfield. Hence it is possible a lot of his total contract was back ended. Therefore, we bring this forward to give us room for the next couple of years.

At the same time it helps us send the message that success requires sacrifice, something they would want Lever and McGovern to contemplate in their ongoing negotiations.

In fact if it has been restructured to bring costs forward it confirms we HAVE a war chest (or at least room in the TPP cap atm).
Bringing cash forward is a benefit to the player, how do we spin that as sacrifice?

And we can do that without a new contract

Maybe the spin is public BS to put pressure on other players.

And I'm not sure we can simply bring payments forward or backward at will without a new contract. I would have thought that a contract would include a schedule of payments that had to be adhered to until the contract was voided, in this case by a further contract (however I am not certain on the specific details of contract law).

Hate to say it but I do not have a good feeling after hearing that on 5AA... Massively non-committal, life decision I need to weigh up with my partner, never once said something like "get the deal done"... Danced around it and then killed me by saying "at the minute I'm playing for the Adelaide Crows" when Rowie asked about other clubs :(

Currently on 5aa.
I think he made a slip up and said now the CBA is done we can continue the negotiations.
Did say nothing has been tabled yet "due to his side" requesting this.
Don't be worried if it isn't done in the near future.
