I could be very wrong however I just sense that there is something else at play with this entire situation, my reasons for thinking this:

1. When players like Buddy, Scully and Ablett were holding out to end of season there was also visible tension between club and player, however here both club and player seem very relaxed and comfortable with the situation at hand.

2. Danger is very strong in his role in the AFLPA and with this role he holds strong views on player rights and entitlements and maybe he is using his contract situation as a platform or vehicle to push a broader agenda that players are contracted for a fix term and shouldn't be feel the need to be rushed to make decisions on their future until the contract is due to expire.

3. People talk about where there is smoke there is fire, with this there has been a few reports suggesting Danger has signed a two year extension. To me this would seem to ne the most logically decision. Commercially it positions him to test the market as a unrestricted FA at the peak of his powers and maybe with this B&F and Brownlow around his neck. In terms of success it gives him two more seasons to ride the AFC journey as our premiership window is opening

One thing is for sure Danger is his own man and with that maybe there is something below the surface that is not totally visible to us that is steering this process and timing

Just my thoughts

Given everything that has happened this year, I doubt the Club would have been tensed or uncomfortable with Danger and vice versa even if the signs pointed towards him leaving. I think that could happen once our season ends, till then no.

Sauce was the same on Gameday this morning, when asked he basically said Danger's given everything this year to the team so if he goes they won't fault him but they genuinely feel it would be hard for him to walk away right now and hope he stays.

I think the team genuinely believes him when he says that he hasn't made a decision yet. Maybe we should, too.
I know we probably read too much into small words choices, but I was sad when Sauce said on Gameday that the crows doing well and making it into the finals hopefully makes Patty's decision harder. I would have preferred him to say it makes the decision easier. Saying it makes the decision harder sounds like he knows the decision has been made to leave.

Exactly. I thought the same thing, it is very telling in my opinion.

I would love to know why robbo on 360 wanted to talk specifically to pd this week. I think there are so many conflicting stories.

1) staying for 2
2) going to Geelong for 5
3) missus has a Job on the Gold Coast
4) missus transfer to hawthorn
5) Crows will never match
6) Crows will definitely match

Some people are leaking crap. Only time will tell which ones.

There are two reasons one does not think about life changing decisions until the last minute:

1)One is a moron

Or

2)There is going to be no life changing
There is only one reason one would believe someone hasn't thought about a life changing decision until the last minute:

1) One is a moron

Yeah actually that's a good point. Apparently it's just a hobby to supporters but it's a decision that will affect his whole life. Yet supporters think about it more than he does. In fact, he hasn't even thought about it even though it will affect his life. Seems kind of contradictory.

With our whole season on the line and a shot at a prelim against a waivering Freo and a potential GF against a team we KNOW we are capable of beating.

How much of a boost to the players and the club would Dangerfield announcing he is staying be? It actually could be the difference between us winning and losing on Friday (it must be worth two or three goals).

There is no reason whatsoever to hold back the announcement in football terms.

We'll hear nothing til after the end of the season. He's played a ridiculously straight bat (and did so again this morning). There's no chance he changes mood and announces his intent early.
