I was gonna say, if there's one thing we do seem to do well over the last few years it's drafting. We struggle to hold on to some of 'em, but we're pretty damn good at picking 'em and developing them from there.
It's no wonder some people get accused of being a troll with ignorant comments like the one posted.

Not yours.

This years and next years I guess. Doubt it'll happen though. Have heard the conspiracy theory that Geelong will purposely downgrade their current pick and get two later picks in return. Use one on Henderson and then shrug their shoulders and say to us "Welp, we've only got picks in the 20's sitting here, guess you better take the compo pick" so we let Danger go without them having to give up something.
Geelong will know before the trade period starts whether we're matching or not. They are not going to get Henderson and put their ability to get Danger into jeopardy.

People need to stop worrying about the ramblings of numpty Geelong supporters who have no idea what they're talking about.

Seeing as everyone knows now, why would he wait? It's already going to be awkward. Just be up front.
Probably wants to have his cake and eat it too or something. Soak up some last congrats, potentially celebrate a B&F and Brownlow win with his teammates and then announce he's off to Geelong.

It's pretty hard to stomach that. He's had a great year. Has served us well. But he's decided to leave after 7 years, not 8, in a year we need him the most. He needs to cut the ties and let us move on ASAP.

I don't think so. I think he genuinely believes he's doing the club and its supporters a favour. Like he owes us or something.

We're going to see this board slip very quickly into the disgusted 'get him out of my sight' phase very soon.
I've been there for a while mate. I don't want players that don't want to be here. Would have preferred he ****** off when we could have traded him last contract.

I still don't understand the point of restricted free agency? The rules are there for a reason, why on earth wouldn't we match and force him to stay here? Players and clubs can't just make up the rules to suit themselves every time they want to abandon a club

Buddy and Tippett

Buddy done deal at GWS

Tippett done deal to GC

Boak done deal to Geelong

J Cameron Is homesick and want out of living in Sydney
Fair point but they weren't as definate and for as long as this shit has gone on.

I can't remember the Boak one being a done deal as they wouldn't have need to fly over here if it was a forgone conclusion?

Rucci just proving he has no idea "Well if he's accepting unders to go to geelong, that's the reason you don't match. You don't want to keep someone who doesn't want to be there". We match to force a trade you balding idiot! Blind freddy and his blind corgi knows that.
He wants us not to match so he can write an article saying how we should of matched.

To match or not to match, the club should be discussing this with the AFL

Either the AFL gives us two juicy first round picks as compensation which they can do because it is up to the AFL Commission's discretion or we match and force a trade

I wouldn't be surprised if this has already been agreed to

On the contrary. Danger has disdain for football supporters and the press. His regular radio spots have been little more than trolling for the last 12 months. People that know him will tell you that he is a bit odd and even on the narcissistic side. He is not the most popular player in the team.

Recruiting interstate players always have an element of risk

However

Recruiting interstate players with partners who have family with such strong community ties back home would add a extra level of retention risk
I don't get this whole family thing. Once you have done your annual 5 minute catch up what is there to talk about?

I'm basking in the buffer zone!

Our drafting has been much better recently, when we've actually had the picks.
The drafting has been fine in general. But they've done little/nothing with really early picks ever (Brad Crouch is probably an exception, but is a special case.) I know it seems like a novelty in recent years, but Adelaide actually get a first round draft pick automatically.

Wrong.

Lever
Matt Crouch
Brad Crouch
Smith
Talia
Davis
Dangerfield
Sellar (2006)

So - 9 years since our last first round flop. So, you are wrong.
Only Brad Crouch would have been picked before the pick Adelaide already have.

Why create a potential embarrassment at our Club during the best and fairest night?

He doesnt want to be here. So tell him dont let the door hit him om the way out.
Definitely. They did it to Bock. This situation is no different. Possibly worse in that he has been stringing us along for months.
