In 2011, our club made good use of its draft picks and fringe players(Maric/Armstrong) to help mitigate the loss of Davis and Gunston, whilst putting the wheels in place to cover the loss of Kurt(unfortunately we weren't counting on Tippett taking 2x firsts and 2x seconds with him and offering nothing in return).
We netted Crouch, Brown, Lynch, Jenkins, Kerridge, Grigg, CEY that trade/draft period, for Davis, Gunston, Maric, Armstrong and our draft picks that year. That's 4 best 22 players, plus 3 fringe players, who've all proven capable at the highest level.
If Danger leaves, we need a similar style trade period and there certainly appears to be some quite catchable fish in the ocean.
As a side note, if we do lose Danger, I think we should definitely chase Bennell. It's a risk, no doubt, but we need to be bold if we're to recover from Paddy's loss. Even if we were to grab Menzel, Aish and Hampton, there's still a massive talent hole in our side, Bennell goes a long way to fixing that and likely would only cost one first rounder plus some steak knives.
