Completely agree.

But then of course you will get your flogs come out and say "ohh **** off, so what, now that he's leaving Dangerfield is no good?" and etc etc.

Hate to see him go, I really do. But deep down I think the club can come out the other end of this better off. People will say you're off in the clouds with your optimism, but given A) the current list profile of our club and B) the players that are on the market this year it's a real possibility, otherwise I wouldn't believe so.

Big October coming up for the club, and an even bigger test for Fages, Roo, Reid and Ogilvie. And until proven otherwise, I will sit here and remain quietly confident that we could walk into 2016 with a better starting 22 than what we finished with in 2015.
Yeah well we've had the second most elite players to Hawthorn for ages. Top end doesn't win you anything if your bottom end sucks arse. We win the clearances till the cows come home but have nothing to show for it. Our problem has been poor users of the footy and lack of two way running from our mids. Danger doesn't help with either of these. Turn him into 2 or 3 solid players who do and we'll be much better off as a team.

Let's start with...
D Jarman
W Carey
S Thompson
E Betts
S Jacobs

What comes around goes around.
Solid first post.

With the exception of Carey in hindsight of course. I do agree. We paid a lot for him and I dont believe we got the best of him at any stage really.

Out of that, only Jarman fits my criteria that I referred to.

Carey - let's be fair, that was a forced thing and had nothing to do with his love of the Crows
Betts - okay maybe. But it was FA that made it happen.
Thompson and Jacobs - Who? Neither of them were big names before coming across to the Crows. Thommo even missed the first game in 05 until Craig realised he was too good for the SANFL. Jacobs had one impressive game but was not the number 1 ruckman.

I still stand by our losses.

Regardless of whatever Carey gave during his time here, his signing was a massive coup for the club in cementing us as one of the big players. At the time we were still the new guys. We had won a couple of premierships yes, but it was still very much men vs boys. to have arguably the best player of the 90's declare he wanted to play for us was massive.

Betts Tippett Gunston
CC Tex Dangerfield

That is a Blue Chip forward line. Say what you want about the recruiters, but they did get the quality players to our Club.
And yet:

Douglas - Tex - Lynch
CC - Jenkins - Betts

Is also a blue chip forward line.

So... ahh... why are you bitching?

I can understand a player leaving us to gain an opportunity at another club such as Mattner , Knights , Maric etc. I wouldn't even blame Grigg , CEY or Kerridge if they left to gain more opportunities this year. But one of biggest leaders on and off the field , who every player looks upto at the club is potentially ditching us. For what? Being closer to his family? Adelaide to Melbourne is around 45 minutes - 1 hour away via plane. After what this club has been through this year , the last thing we need is one of our best players leaving us.

Why, he has decided he wants to be our enemy. Stay away from the B and F and sit elsewhere at the brownlow. He has taken all he can from the club and given nothing more in return, first chance he gets he leaves, a disgrace to the #32.
Because it's like the little kid who takes his bat and ball and goes home, just because he got clean bowled.

We'd come out looking like cry baby losers.

If we suck it up then we just look like losers.

2 first round picks plus a spare million...

2 things we have going for us... The SA u18 team has had a purple patch recently..

And free agency.. We are one of the few cashed up clubs.. Let's spend it wisely
Yep, 2017 still needs to be our aim.

I want Geelong's 2 1st rounders AND a 2nd tier player (Murdoch, Gregson types) that fills a need.

Oh, and I reckon the best midfielder on the market is BENNELL.
