in 25 years, have we ever re-signed a Victorian after they have become an All Australian player?
good (very) player but never AA
Yeah, that's what i thought with him...

So i've decided to quickly look up all AA we've had

Without counting squad of 40s the only Victorian AAs we've had is Dangerfield and Talia... so this is the first time we've ever been in a scenario we have a Victorian AA out of contract, who would of thought.

Soft spot for Brisbane
I'm starting to hate the sight of Dangerfield.

If you want to stay, come out and sign a ******* contract. If you want to leave, you should have said last October and we should have trasded you. This holding off is just giving me the shits.
This is the dumbest thing on the Internet tonight.

He's contracted for this season - and it hasn't even started yet, ffs..

Not doubting your mail. But you most certainly have some thick skin. My prediction is Danger to Melbourne on about $1.4m for 5 years, captaining from 2017 onwards. Roos, Goody and plenty of early picks will spell the success that is req'd.
All those early picks have certainly helped them over the last decade.

As much as everyone needs to ease up with the snide name calling, Alex is absolutely right here, as much as Danger is worth, we will get a pittance back for him whether we match the offer or not. Our best shot was last year at trade time, the club should have called him out then and there but even that may have seen us short changed if he only wanted to deal one club.
How were you imagining that would have happened? How would we have forced him to leave?

Every list manager in the afl said that we did the right thing and they would have done the same thing, fwiw.

I'm sure you can find something dumber. Just look for any comment about Jenkins and you have automatically found a dumber comment.

That wasn't the point I was trying to make, maybe it didn't come across well. My point was the best chance of getting somewhere close to value for him would have been trading him whilst still under contract. Would it have been possible? Probably not.

If he was to accept a free agency offer from a club at the end of this year, the only way we will get a decent pick for him is if we finish bottom 4. If we match the offer we may get the team he chooses first round pick and a player as an absolute best return. The other team will call a bluff about him going into PSD, we have lost two years of decent draft picks, as a club we are in no position to cut the nose off our faces on principle.

Which goes back to Alexs comment that the person was dreaming about us getting a first rounder and Cockatoo...we are not going to get a value reward for him leaving

I'm so f**king sick of hearing Dangerfield and his contract.
Can you imagine what it's like for him. Must be so painful. Especially if he's staying and doing the team thing of waiting until the AFC know how much they can pay him based on incoming player wages (Aish etc).
