I will disappear for all pre-season if danger goes into the psd.

Will not happen!
we obviously will/have to match their offer. but they have literally nothing they can give us if they trade henderson for their first as motlop will obviously stay. also why cant they just sign him on a one year overinflated 1.2million contract and then sign him for 4 on 500k after that?

So you reckon danger & Connors would prefer he end up at a bottom side via the psd?

You have much to learn!
That isn't what I said at all. There are several posters on here who when people say well teams routinely get ripped off so we probably will again prance around saying 'you don't know how free agency works' or 'you have much to learn'. Utter bullshit. I just have to look at what's happened in the past. You people are the ones who are predicting that something that's never happened before will happen and we, unlike other clubs, will suddenly get good value for Danger. YOU may find that you're the one who has a lot to lean.

Will be interesting to see if the cats priority is Dangerfield or Henderson as they won't get both without trading out decent players.

3.2 mill over 5 years we would easily match.

You claimed Connors couldn't give a toss what value the cats offered up for danger, which I'm pointing out to be wrong. Connors will want his client to get to his preferred destination, which means he will want the destination club to be reasonable about the offer. He will want to avoid the psd at all costs.

Yeah, it has been. It was designed to effectively make all the free agents unrestricted, but to appear as though that wasn't the case to somewhat appease the fans.

Just more typical AFL bullshit. Very clearly have one objective in mind, but try to put it in drag to be a bit more appealing to the fans.
Who pushed for the unrestricted category to exist? Surely it was the clubs.

Was it the pay off for the clubs not gaining the right to trade contracted players?

It's every teams job to get players for as little as possible.
No shit Sherlock... But if not reasonable, the trade doesn't happen! You appear to be ignoring all the posts where I have said we would get unders but more than fa compensation.

How ugly can it get if we just follow the rules...

Let them act like spoilt kids & have their tantrums.
If we match and the AFL PA threaten to strike. It could get ugly.
For a middle of the road club that rarely makes finals and is from a state no one cares about we sure do find ourselves in the centre of the news fairly often

His argument was not as you've framed it but effectively this.. If not reasonable, Crows dont sign-off, so his client doesn't get what he wants.

Also, consider this - player managers are paid a % of player's wages. Incentive to convince client to go to the highest bidder... Might not be Geelong.
I think people mistake what the role of a player agent is. Clubs work out trades between each other. Player agent makes sure the financials and conditions of contract are the best he can get for his client. He doesn't tell the clubs how to trade and whether he's happy with the deal. Move player to club of choice, get as much coin as possible. That's it. This notion of 'fairness' is pie in the sky stuff.

The player agent will make their concerns known where a destination club is incapable of making a fair trade for their client because they have traded out most of their best trade value for another player. The player agent's role is to ensure the trade happens & all parties are satisfied so their client gets what they want.

but what if the original deal for him to go to geelong is just a massive one year contract to help them evade crows matching the offer?
The crows have more cap space than the cats, but most importantly the cats have already said they don't make ridiculous offers.

The deal has to be at least 2 years and the AFC should be able to match anything Geelong does, we should have more money than them. The only offer from Geelong we might not match would be length, if they offered a 10+ year deal we may not be willing to match because we don't want him to accept the offer and stay with a contract where he will be getting paid for years after he retires.
