I see it as a win-win for us.

We either keep Dangerfield or....

With the Tippett money we've been rolling forward plus the Dangerfield money we'll be landing two MASSIVE names at the end of next season

So it's either Dangerfield + New Gun

Or

New gun + New gun

If true, that wouldn't excuse our public statements or inactivity in free agency. If we believe he's gone, we should be throwing his money at someone else last time round
From all accounts we threw the sink at Gibbs. I think we at least tried.

The issue which presents itself of course, is why can a club like Carlton retain Gibbs, but we can't prevent Geelong luring Danger home - if that happens.

You spelt "Mackay" wrong. Three times.

Aren't you one of the posters who go on about others who come on here, post some vague info and then don't back it up with a source?

Gonna show ya cards and give us a name?
No, I have a crack at posters for posting cryptic shit without actually saying anything. I've never asked someone to reveal a source. My post is pretty clear, someone high up at the Crows told a family member Danger is going to Geelong. I'm not going to say who.

A family member of theirs or yours?

Oh well that's that then. Danger's already made up his mind before seeing what Walsh and Fagan bring to the table.
Hope he uses the time he has left we us to learn how to clean up his disposal so he can go to the Cats at the top of his game....if he goes then we deal with it an move on.
Would be a strange move with Geelong about to lose a big chunk of their senior group in the next few years. Danger could end up like Bucks at the Pies.
Whatever happens this is going to drag on and suck up too much oxygen along the way.

These things can be pretty fluid though. I'm convinced we had reached some kind of understanding with Gibbs until he saw how shit we were running and balked. Potentially the state of play right now could be that Danger is seen as likely to leave but that could change right up to D-Day.

I had a convo with Trigg before he left and asked him about Gibbs, said they wanted him but not at the $700k it would take. We had other priorities such as KPD and outside run, we addressed none of those at the trade table though. Then Trigg is named CEO of Carlton. I hope he had nothing to do with any attempt we had to get Gibbs.

I think this may be my reaction of Danger leaves.

Ah well, if he does leave I guess it's good news for James Aish who can look forward to a very healthy contract offer coming his way.

That's actually the problem, as DABM rather drolly referred to, we talk about priorities but land nothing.

If we're honest with ourselves, which we frequently aren't, the haul we reeled in this time barely counts as steak knives.

Gibbs didn't want to leave because he's pretty much set-up his life in Melbourne.

Wasn't it Dangerfield who suggested how good Gibbs will be playing in the Adelaide colours, last year?
Would be rather ironic then should the reverse come about.

You guys have a long year ahead on the Dangerfield front but as someone here has already put forward; Maybe Dangerfield himself doesn't yet know what he wants to do.

If we can just keep losing gun players for a few more years by the time we reach 2030 we should be able to land the best 22 players in the league and be guaranteed a premiership :thumbsu:

I like to think of it more as butter knives, not the good ones from Sheffield mind you, the butter knives that hang on the rack that you can pick up at Kmart for $4.99
