Perhaps we are being too narrow sighted.

Question - is there a scenario where ongoing uncertainty with respect to his contract, plays to our advantage regarding trading another player in ? Ie Adelaide can make a rock solid offer to a player manager in competition with hawthorn and collingwood who need to keep some cash in reserve, as they are also in the market for danger ?

I honestly just cant see Danger hamming it up on social media, taking pics with Smithers and of dinner parties etc, only to give all his fans a massive slap in the face by announcing he is leaving. I'm not suggesting he should shut himself off from everything, but the way he goes about it seems to be one big wink to his fans.
I think this as well; Danger is a class out and a genuine human being - I think he's got enough smarts and sensitivity to not tease people about his future.

Also, I'm starting to lean towards the gaaaaawn camp but I can't get passed how giddy Roo was on radio yesterday. Confusing.

Also, off topic but his name's still in the title of the thread so...I love Tex, I know it's just a retweet from him but I lold.

Danger staying because of PW's death absolutely will be the narrative that gets run with. Already seen plenty of Twitter posts with stuff like "I thought he was gonna leave, but he'll feel guilty about leaving now, so he'll stay".

A rumored 2 year deal only reinforces the perception that he doesn't want to be at Adelaide and is only staying because he doesn't want to be the bad guy.
Two year deal bassically means there is no end to the speculation. We have been talking about this contract signing for two years. May as well just keep the thread running.

Forget the three premiership players being delisted.... What about Selwood who has easily had a better, more decorated career earning almost half a million less per year? I'm sure he would be thrilled

He ducked into it.

Not just first choice. They're still in their top dozen IMO.
Wow they are destined for the spoon in as little as two years. Maybe if they lose the race for Dangers signature they can blame really poor list management. Hadnt won a premiership since 2011 probably should have started trading some players. Mackie or Stokes back to SA for example.

I doubt the cats will get near a spoon, but they are in for a few years to rebuild.

Will be interesting to see how they stage the retirement of their older players.

I dont know about the spoon but if they DONT land Dangerfield and even 1 or 2 more they're in a world of hurt. They've traded quite poorly in recent times and whilst they have some young guns like Caddy, Gregson, Bliclavs and obviously Selwood..... they dont have the squad to make another challenge for a while.

They have pretty shite depth. To delist all 9 players over 2 seasons will really hurt. They have no stand out ruckman, 1 real forward and there Backman are all premiership players. They are in trouble.

Bomber said tonight he'd keep them all bar McIntosh and Rivers. He compared them to the Hawks like Lake, Mitchell, Hale and Hodge.

What he failed to mention was they also have Roughead, Gunston, Rioli, Smith....... and the list goes on.

I dont think Danger will make any real difference to the side. Thats how bad they are going to get. It could end up like Judd. Kept Carlton as a middle of the road club but the pay cheque limited the clubs potential to recruit
