I don't know about the rest of you guys but, if the club allows danger to go to Geelong for a matchable contract and just for just the compensation pick, the club will no longer get my money as a member.
I do not believe that Danger is a similar character to Tippett and, therefore, try to screw the club as Tippett did.
I do believe that Danger has every right to go wherever he wants to for a comp pick after 10 years service, not after 8 years only. If he wants to go after 8 seasons, he should not expect us to accommodate him and let him go for less than his worth.
And, for those of you that believe that players always end up to the clubs they want to got to by going to the PD, could you tell me why port paid pick 22 for Polec and their 1st and 2nd picks for Ryder? Or did Boyd finish up at the dogs for nothing?

And the closer we get to finals the less likely it is for him to sign. He can play the, "I'm just concentrating on finals" card.

Amazing that all these other players are able to multi task and sign a contract with us whilst concentrating on footy at the same time.

I seriously doubt the Crows would have told his management that. They wouldn't be telling them anything at all. If he won't tell the club what he wants to do, why would they give them that kind of info? They'd go straight to Geelong and tell them and they'd structure their offer around that to try and put him out of range of our ability to match.

If the Crows management are smart (and I have to think / hope they are in this case) then they would be playing their own cards just as close to their chest as Danger is himself. They'd discuss terms of a contract extension with him if he wants to discuss that. Anything else is, frankly, none of Danger's or his manager's business. If he decides he wants to go, fine, but in that case the Crows management will do what they feel is best for the club, not what's best for Danger or Geelong.
Not formally, perhaps... but it doesnt hurt to put forward a prevailing view that we're not going to accept a compo pick for him and would prefer he stay, and thus exercise our right to match.

This is a new age in contract negotiations and we find ourselves at the cutting edge of it. The player (manager) wants to maximise income, the clubs want to hire/retain quality. Geelong dont have the space to offer a "Buddy" deal, nor I suspect do other contending clubs, at least not to the extent that would blow us out of the water. If they did (eg if Collingwood went nuts on a deal), well in the grander scheme of things we might say letting Patty go for $1.2M a year at Collingwood not only frees up space for us, but squeezes them in the future. Look at the situation at Sydney now, they cant afford anything.

Interesting times ahead.

Does anyone else just want Patrick to come out and say I am leaving or staying. I have sources that say he is gone. Has brought a house in geelong and will play for a Victorian team. Would have more respect if he just cane out with the black and white instead of the GREY!!
We really need to move forward and I believe crouch brothers will be better then patrick any way..
I don't want to be one if these posters that says I have a friend that is a friend of a friend who is patricks auntys sister twice removed. .lol but I do know a family member that haw confirmed patrick has brought a house in geelong and will leave end of this year.
No sources?

How about no. . Aloud to think positive
Firstly, it's "allowed".

Secondly... Danger already owns a property in Moggs Creek which I believe he intends on inhabiting when he moves back. He has owned this for some time.

Absolutely. Especially this year - 2nd round pick is worthless if the draft is as bad as they say. 1st round pick and a quality player, or 2 first round picks would be the going rate, surely? And the ability to trade future draft picks will make it easier to get that kind of deal across the line than it might have been in previous years.

I think you can forget about two first rounders. How would Geelong get their hands on two first round picks especially as they appear to be trading players in and not out

Thanks. Duly noted.

Alex, I can understand where you are coming from on this one but to be fair, the Paddy contract will define this admin in how it is handled. Outside of the way the club handled the passing of our coach and how we as a club have rebounded from it and are still marching towards finals, there really hasn't been that defining moment opportunity yet for our admin to stamp its mark and say " **** off you Victorian campaigners, we are a strong club and we don't take shit from nobody, especially a bunch of banjo players from near Torquay".

I guess what I m saying is there is not really enough evidence ( there are vibes no doubt) to make you stand one side or the other of the fence, this is their admins defining moment
