KANGAROOS

Well, it seems the Kangaroos are not totally satisfied with their acceptance as the AFL’s ‘national’ team. The Kangaroos have now broken new ground and will attempt to market themselves as the AFL’s ‘international’ team.

They will begin this campaign with a ‘push’ into the USA. After studying the marketplace for merchandising purposes, they have settled for a name change and will be known as the
N.Mers.

To assist the ‘push’ in the USA, they will adopt as their club song, Men At Work’s “Down Under”.

Miller was quoted as saying ‘We wanted to explode into the market, You know, make a real big impact!!!’.

ST KILDA

On the heels of the Blight inspired moves recently reported in the papers, comes the following rumour from Linton Street.

Malcolm intends on using R.Harvey as his main tagger in 2001. He believes this will teach R.Harvey to run to the right spots on the footy oval.

Asked if this would adversely affect R.Harvey’s dominance in the midfield, Blight replied
“It is important that he runs to the right spots. ……..You tell me this, how many blokes win you games in the process of gathering 40 touches of the leather every week. Not many”

I am NOT, repeat NOT, having a go at any club. I had to state that because there are some very touchy people in here.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!

They can't use the the "Down Under" song!

For two reason:

1. It is Australia's second nation anthem!
and
2. When ever I here that song, I always think of Australia II winning the America's Cup. I DONT WANT TO THINK OF NORTH!!

The Roos are not the National or Australia's team - They are the Melbourne/Sydney/Canberra team.

The reason:
For every game in Sydney/Canberra they ar 'let off' an interstate visit to Perth, Adelaide or Brisbane.

Teams like Hawthorn and St Kilda are more widely travelled. Hawthorn are taking a game to Tassie this year. They also have a huge following in Tassie and WA

I thought it was Melbourne and the Crows that were playing in London this year. Of course, they are not trying market themselves internationally like Hawthorn tried to last year. It was a great joke.
