immediately shoot down my suggestion because it wasn't hugely in melbourne's favour )

Secondly, my suggestion is we chase Thorp and because we're doing the asking, that gives Hawthorn the upper hand in negotiations.

Thirdly hawthorn are pr1cks. They're notoriously shrewd at the trade table and are unlikely to give away a player they'd like to keep unless it favours them.

There's also the potential if it's Rivers on the table that it could blow up in their face if he got injured again, we're not the only ones running the risk. Also its not like Warnock had put together 5 solid seasons, he's had about 1 & 1/2 solid years, less of a risk but he could still fall apart. Its definitely a greater risks for us, but its a 2 way street. Like i said before, greater risk for potential greater return

And the additional player could be quite decent player, who they deem surplus but good for us, a fringe hawthorn midfielder could easily get into our best side at present, a player like jarryd morton, Hawthorn might say that's too much then. That could give us 2 quality players before the draft, in what is said to be a weak draft

If it isn't in MFC favour at all why are we trading at all. When we trade we must make sure it goes in the other teams favour. Good one:rolleyes:

Hawks have no upper hand. They need a Key position back. We've got more hand then the hawks. ANd Fck Mitch Thorpe. All he's proven is he spends more time on the injury list then looking in the mirror.

Fck being pick 6 3 years ago. A lot of Hawkers reckon they wouldn't have picked Thorpe if their own medical staff were allowed to do Thorp's medical.

If hawks are pricks in negiotations. Walk away fool.

Rivers for Thorp or more likely Dowler is ok at best.

Rivers + 18 for Thorp. Get stuffed.
Rivers + 18 for Thorp + Jarryd Morton. Get stuffed.

Anything with Warnock. Get stuffed. You want him, you pay for him.

Jarryd Morton and Thorp 2 quality players. :D
Fringe players at Hawthorn would easily be MFC's best 22. :D

Talk up Tim Boyle. why don't mention we need Tom Murphy or Simon Taylor as well :).

dont need to trade, lets see the boys that have suffered thru the hell rise and step on the platform with a medal.

I do agree, we are in the box seat with picks, getting a hand me down from another club is just as likely to fail as a bad pick. Least with a pick you can get someone who may turn out to be fantastic and could be used later on as trade.

We need to make sure that any trade has a ROI in favour to us.

I think it would be a good move if we got rid of either PJ or Meesen and traded for a 2nd ruckman example: Blake.... Kinda like what Sydney did with Jolley.

I said next year. Read better next time.

Doubt he is the quickest over 25m at Carlton. Yarran, Betts and even Judd with half a groin would beat him. Your one of those delusional types who go to other teams boards and make up rubbish.

NO, He is actually the quickest player over 25m at the club. And yes quicker than Judd. You can ask anyone who has anyhting to do with him.

I seriously can't see that happening. Blake wouldn't even rate as our 4th-best ruck option compared with those we already have IMO...

nah i dont want Blake... I was saying about how we might be able to pick up a ruckman who is a teams 2nd best ie. Blake... I wouldn't want him though. Thats why i made reference to Jolly.

Why the **** would we want another 2nd string ruckman? we have a team full of them! unless we are getting a deadset gun ruckman we have much higher priorities during trade week.

sigh...... ur not listening are you? you see how i used the example of Jolly? Im talking about getting another ruckman "LIKE JOLLY" who wasn't getting there chances because another ruckman (White) was keeping them out of the number 1 spot. We should be looking for a Jolly type... u got that?

I got it...

Name this ruck man??

Please note the following names will not be accepted:
Renoueff
Taylor
Bellchambers
BLAKE
Seaby

Mumphord??? but seeing as your so opposed why don't u tell me?

Off the top of my head the only second string ruckman i can think of is Lewenburger (spelling), but he would be wbe beyond what we are prepared to offer hence not realistic.

We need to be trading for an elite (or there abouts) mids or emerging KPF.

Some fantastic reading here. Lets look at this, you need key forwards, we need key backs. Our key forwards realisticly up for trade would be only Dowler and Thorp. Which of your key backs would you trade for either of these 2, just 2 get an idea of how you guys rate your KPD. If you want to mention draft picks as well thats ok, but your top picks and our pick 9 are out obviously, cheers

Rivers and Warnock have been the general names thrown up as potential bait. IMO any deal would be very unlikly as i think MFC will be v. quite this trade period. P1&2 are off limits. P18 isn't going to get any serious tallent so is worth holding onto, and given we have P1 in the PSD we would just wait to see who drops into their.

Given this i think we'd want Dowler + a pick for either Rivers/Warnock.

Thorp has a wanky tattoo, we'll pass on him. we want to be trading players with wanky tattoos OUT of the club, not into it!!

Jones can go! maybe he can go to Carlton, they all have wanky tattoos there!

I am pretty sure this is what every team wants. Also, I would be quite happy for a straight swap of Warnock for Dowler. Simply because Dowler has shown he can kick goals and hold down the KPF post with Watts. Although Warnock seems like he is untouchable he is going to be 26 nxt year and if he has 1 bad his trade value goes down remarkably (alala Nathon Carrol).

You have a deal:thumbsu:

Geez, we will be the only club who wants an elite mid or emerging KPF won't we?

Do you realise what we would have to give upto get this???

and add to that Ryan Ferguson. (If only we did a straight swap for sewell).

Though this time they have Ryan Fergurson and we have Brad Sewell. The trade you suggested is ludicrous, the worth of Warnock should not be underestimated. Which you have done, i think its intresting his name is bandied around while he is about to go into his prime. While it is suggested we have a surplus of tall backs this is not the case. We have Warnock,Frawley,Garland,Rivers and even Martin. Yet the only real player coming through is Tommy Mac, yet he is no giant. Not much depth if a player is injured. So trading for a player who has shown glimpses for a known comodity it dangerous, would be a stupid move and potentially hurtful. I still bad have memories of 2002.

You are onto it BM. First round picks arent going to be traded - and anything beyond third round is meaningless in this draft and no club will be interested.

Warnock or Rivers for Thorp and your second round pick might have us thinking but it would depend all on how our guys rate Thorp. I actually think hes still a good chance to come good but even if he does, I doubt he'll be breaking into your forward line.

I rate both Warnock and Rivers but I think we need a key forward so we should be prepared to sacrifice to get it. Youde have to throw a draft pick in in order to compensate the risk with Thorps injuries.

If we trade for Gibson I dont think we'll have a second round pick[25]. I agree if you took Thorp we'd need to add to get Warnock [dont want Rivers] and we wont give up pick 9 as well. Dowler is less of a risk than Thorp, and is playing good footy as the key forward, but wont when Bud and Rough are back next year. What about straight swap Dowler for Warnock as lower draft picks are as useless as **** on a bull:p

Given P25 is probably out of the equation i could only see (from our perspective) it working if we did the Warnock/Dowler trade and you upgraded our P18 with your P9...

What about Lachhie Henderson from Lions? KP and pick 8 (i think) in the same draft we took Morton.
Victorian I think.
Some other posters have been talking about him as a target for Richmond??
If we could get him somehow, we could go hard for the mids with 1 and 2.
Is he a better prospect than Thorpe?
