Fred Cook has sadly passed – announced today on Twitter by his biographer, Paul Amy. Unsure of dates yet. I've been wanting to get around to reading that book; this has been a perhaps macabre reminder to do so.

DOD not on Wikipedia:

Other discrepancies:
The book has 8/10/1935 for the DOB, as does AFL Tables, while Wikipedia and AF.com have 8/10/1934.

Fred Buttsworth | Wikiwand (has 11 May 2021)
This suggests the book has it wrong: Champion sportsman Buttsworth dies at 93
AustralianFootball.com has 12 May.

Wikipedia, AustralianFootball.com and AFL Tables all have 19 June 1934 for his DOB. The book has 19/10/1934, as does this death notice: https://www.heraldsun.com.au/tributes/notice/death-notices/joiner-john/5798770/

Perhaps the AFL changed it after seeing that? This post covered the topic a while back.

The book has 16/3/2021 for the DOD (AF.com does too), Wikipedia has 15/3/2021.

The book has 26/6/2021 for the DOD, Wikipedia has 27/6/2021, as does AF.com. This suggests it should be the 27th: Gregory Sizer | Death Notices | Geelong | My Tributes

The book has 29/12/2021 for the DOD, Wikipedia has 28/12/2021, as does AF.com. It looks like the book has this one wrong:

The book has John Brereton with a DOB of 8/10/1935, which makes this old post rather confusing!:

I imagine it must be an error in the Season Guide. Wikipedia has 8/10/1934, while AustralianFootball.com and AFL Tables have 8/10/1935. I see AustralianFootball.com have only just changed it since yesterday - sorry guys, I think you have to change it back!!
This suggests he was born in 1934, not 1935:

This should confirm it:

Maybe they hadn't taken notice of the Brereton correction.

I think the AFL Season Guide & AF.com are likely to be wrong on this one.
The wikipedia entry has useful references - the first is a link to a death notice from the family stating 15/3/2021, the fourth is a link to the Carlton FC article published at 10:45am on 16/3 that contains quotes from David Parkin etc... seems unlikely this would all happen on the same day he died and blueseum (also linked on wiki) has DoD as 15 March.

AFL seasons guide seems to be wrong on this one too - ThePope updated DOD on wiki with a link to WA cemeteries site that shows it was 11 May
All wiki pages that were missing DoD have now been updated
I'll drop a note to Col H with the missing deaths and errors identified above

Thanks a lot. The work you (and the other guys) do with the Wikipedia updating/fixing is very much appreciated!

John Bonney (St Kilda) passed away on 20 Feb - see death notice

Encyclopedia has him recorded as "D. John Bonney" and looking on Ancestry it looks like full name might be "Daryl John Bonney" but this is not included in death notices I have seen - does anyone know for sure?

I think over the years I'd also seen his name as Daryl John, but cannot guide you to that source off hand. I do notice that the electoral roll via Ancestry has him as Darrel John at Cooee in 1968, but Daryl John in 1972 at Moorabbin, and still Daryl John in 1980 when back in Burnie area.
