AFL Historian and North Historian advise me that North premiership player, RIchmond player, and caretaker Bears coach Paul Feltham died December 19 2019.
Can't seem to find any details from that time of his passing, but they have confirmed he has passed.
I thought I had heard similar and when someone mentioned coaches of Brisbane and that they were all alive I thought no thats not right as I felt Feltham had passed but had no proof
Any details on the conflict @ Brisbane bears that saw him not reappointed in 1990?
The players didn't like how hard he went

Legally, I can't talk about the settlement with Pelerman (Reuben Pelerman, then the Brisbane Bears' private owner), but Shane O'Sullivan went to Pelerman and said if he kept me on as coach, he wouldn't have a side because I was too hard on the players. That's absurd but that was a beef between O'Sullivan and me. It had nothing to do with the development of the side. He decided that was a me

" To my reckoning, his supposedly colourful, chequered past came back to haunt him."

"Feltham was a charismatic, but mysterious character. He was well-liked by the team but he was the subject of more rumours than Boo Radley."

Would be interesting to know who chooses who gets on, and who nominates or is asked to submit people.

I can shed some light on this.
Several historians were asked to submit names, and also look over the list - and I was one of them.
The cut off was 150+ games or a senior premiership ; but even then there was only enough space for x amount of players in the montage, and people of note outside of rule was also considered.

Majority of those in your 'overlooked' category were discussed or recommended
Des James and Clyde Laidlaw was in montage

Des James was in mintage - he was first slide.
Thanks. Didn't see James in the coverage, focus was on the violin.

At least (as far as can see), no blatant errors of wrong name like last year!

Five years for an inaugural Roos premiership player and 100-gamer's death to go unnoticed. That's astonishing and kind of upsetting to hear.
I know there have been several posts since this one, but I remember Mark Choco Williams being asked about Paul Feltham, pretty sure it was on The Front Bar, maybe during the first Gather round, but it might have been another show, and what did he do to get 5 wins in 7 games after they had been so poor, and Choco talked about Paul having passed away.

The notice in The Examiner was lodged by people connected with the City-South Football Club. As noted in the info box for Barclay, he coached them to the 1974 [NTFA] premiership.
I thought I knew the name for some reason.

Brought the term '' BallTearer '' to national prominence with his commentating in the 70s and 80s - I do think Balltearer was in reference to a SOO match

1987 State of Origin Game when SA beat the Vics by 4pt, but SA were about 23 pts up at 3/4 time. He gave the score straight after the siren and said - what a ball tearer.

SA TV had the local 7 commentators Ian Day, Peter Marker and Graham Campbell and Victorian TV had the ABC commentators, think it was Drew Morphett, Doug Hayward and Kevin Bartlett.

1987 was the year Ross Oakley got pissed off with Ron Casey and 7 Melbourne for refusing top commit to a $$$ figure for the TV rights by his deadline date, so he sold them to Broadcom and they produced 2 games a week I think, and showed them on Channel 10 and the ABC got 1 game a week - might have been 2 a week if WCE played in Perth on Sunday. 1987 was the last time ABC Melbourne had TV rights for VFL games.
