matt rendell

It's amazing how many Brisbane Bears players have died prematurely over the years from a variety of reasons. These include Laurence Schache (heart condition), Robert Dickson (car accident), Ken Judge (cancer), Phil Walsh (stabbed), Troy Clarke (brain aneurism), Brent Green (drowning) and now Matt Rendell (heart attack).

Have added death dates for John Towner, John Devine, Bernie Laffey and Duncan Wright to wikidata so these will now appear via the query...

Also came across this Vale Barry Colliver – Essendonfcpastplayers showing that Barry Colliver (Ess) died in May but haven't found an exact date

Thanks.
In regards to Colliver, does anyone know someone in the EFC Past Players Association? Quite strange that there is no record. Maybe he moved overseas, or changed his name. Or maybe just in a small rural paper or newsletter, not the majors.

Dan Eddy would be worth contacting about that - he's pretty in touch with EFC Past Players

Someone (likely a family member) edited the wiki page of John Barrett (Footscray, Fitzroy) to say he passed away on August 11, 2023 at 10:30 am at Nepean Hospital, Kingswood, New South Wales aged 94. The edit has since been reversed as it was unsourced and I can't see anything in death notices or from either club - hopefully this can be confirmed if true
