Don't see why Lowden would come here to be honest. Is being behind Lobbe, Ryder and Redden better than being behind McEvoy, Ceglar and Hale? Especially when Hale probably only has a year left, if that. But if he does want to come here, I'm definitely not complaining.
the reason that the Hawks are looking at trading Lowden (their 4th ruckman) is because of Harry Dear their father son pick of Paul Dear. Harry Dear is a ruckman and is in this draft and they will be picking him up

My thoughts as well, you would think that a young ruck who thought he had a future would not be interested in playing fourth string but as you say Schultzenfest no one is complaining and if he wants to come we will take him.

We're actually not a bad destination for a ruckman ready to break out. Lobbe had such a huge workload this year that he will be rested all through the pre-season comp. He'll play a bit but doesn't need to do much or prove anything. Ken's already made it clear that Redden will be eased into next season. Ryder (if we get the clearance completed) will be the football equivalent of Capt Jack Harkness, a fixed point in time. He's not ruck competition, he's going to be second ruck, KPF - He's pushing out one of the on-ballers.

Effectively Lowden is head to head with Lobbe at least early in the year and is guaranteed good game time in the pre-season to prove himself. It's basically one-on-one. If he believes he is good enough, good luck to him. Take the challenge.

We should go after Matt Spangher. At 195cm he will help out when Jacko isnt around and **** me premierships follow him.
Spangher is a legend of the game. Would take Wines, Wingard and our first rounder. Totally worth it.

Haha. Any team that can win a premiership with Spangher in the lineup says so much about the other 21 players on the footy field.

Would still love us to make a serious play for Malceski. So much of Sydney's play comes from their speed out of defence. Shaw turns 33 next year, and Rohan's decision making is godawful. If we could pry Malceski away from them, then we'd be turning what was once a strength of theirs into a real weakness, while simultaneously adding probably the most composed half back in the competition to our lineup. It's like the recruiting equivalent of an '8 point game'.

If not us, hopefully he ends up chasing the cash at the Demons with his old coach, well away from a premiership contender.

Last Sunday morning Rucci said he was in the Port rooms after the prelim and was told (from a club official I assumed) that we had a player signed already. I don't know whether to believe it or not. It wasn't Ryder obviously.

I would not be surprised if we will secure a free agent.

From all the chatter I have heard - none of it from the club - it sounds like Lowden was that player. We need rucks, we would have decided to cut Renouf weeks ago and Redden will take a long time to get AFL fitness. So stitching up a ruckman makes the most sense. The Ryder thing would have started a few weeks ago but no way would it have been stitched up before the PF.
