you guys are all going about this the wrong way. we don't need any KPFs, nor can we afford to trade hartlett.

what we need to do instead is clone hartlett ten times, then just kick all our goals from 70m out. no forward line necessary.

Throw in a few Stewie Dews too.

FFS Butcher is not going to net us anything decent. Do people think other clubs recruiting staff don't watch players from other teams? First and foremost he'd only be looked at by clubs that are desperate for KPF's. Second he's had both plenty of injuries and lack of form. The only club that would possibly offer even a semi-decent pick is the Bulldogs on the old 'they played brilliant against us' rationale. And even that it was against a prior coach, so that's likely gone.

I want Butcher retained next year (I think a full pre-season working on skills could get him up to serviceable), but if he goes if we get a pick under 40 on current output it'd be break out the drinks time.
Hypno Rohde will use his super-powers to secure one last great deal for Port. This may or may not involve JB.

Thanks bomberclifford :D

A name that's been mentioned a lot on the other mobs recruiting board & just got floated as tradeable by the guys on the couch is Jimmy Toumpas. Surely the Dees wouldn't cut loose a 2nd year top 3 draft pick so soon despite his under development which is mainly their fault?

I'd take him here at Port if they wanted to throw away a potential star of the comp, I would take Trengove too if we could get him cheap who was also put in their trade bait bracket.

If they ship Watts out they can take Butcher off our hands for Jack, would make hairy Garry's head explode lol.

We are running of the risk of Schulz burning out at his current workload.

If Shaw/Butcher/Harvey aren't ready, we need a stop gap solution. We can't afford to be too cute with age, because an old but serviceable key forward helping Schulz is better than no Schulz.

Ironically, after wearing out all this tread on Schulz's tires this year, we will have to play Butcher (Year 6) and/or Shaw (Year 3) next year as 'readiness' will no longer be an excuse. (Plus, we'll probably get Lycett).

In sum, wasted year of Schulz's prime, dreadful list management in not having a plug-and-play forward this year.
This why I always thought we should have seriously looked at Podsiadly as a DFA for this year.

seriously, who is going to want butcher.

he reminds me of some shares i owned a few years back. i bought them at top dollar, and just rode them down, kept thinking the big announcement was going to come. it never came, and then the tailing's dam failed. i got back 1/20th of investment. what i shoulda done was sell much sooner and bought something that had more upside, instead of hangin on to hope.

point is, his tailing's dam failed long ago. but people here still just keep hangin on. i was personally hoping that he wanted to go home in that year when he burst on the scene. we woulda got a top 5 pick for him back then

I reckon you'd still find a bit of interest in butcher amongst Vic clubs , young enough they would back themselves to improve in home environment pick 30+ I would have thought

Straight swap for Griffiths? :p Part tongue in cheek but a Tiger supporter came here saying Ben would be gettable with a second rounder, i'm certain there'd be a few Port lads Choco would love to get to Punt Rd.

I'm sure the Dogs & Saints would be keen & might offer up something better than other clubs based on needs & having a few early picks.

Hard at the ball thats for sure.
Trading with Collingwood is a nightmare though, not sure what they'd demand in return but it wouldn't be less than the pick they used on him. I'm sure your guys will face the same problem trying to pry Kennedy away from them.

Just wondering where'd you hear about our interest in Broomhead? Apart from the Port link, a few whispers & an article saying Rohde rates him I haven't seen all that much yet that says we'll go after him this year. Is he out of contract?

Apparently you guys are into Broomhead big time. He apparently is a big Power supporter.
Like Lycett, he was brought up through Ports juniors. Broomhead has great potential but I'm not sure we would give Collingwood much for him because we have other more important needs (eg: Forwards and Rucks)

One of my work mates in Victoria is a massive Pies fan and he said that Broomheads under pressure to return to Port next year. Said he was a massive Power supporter.

Yea but if he goes it opens up a spot at the Magpies to develop another key forward.

Either that or give him a run as a defender. Not too fussed. If he stays and plays forward we are just wasting a list spot really.
Meh. We haven't got 6 KPF's so it's not much to keep him. And if others leap frog him then so be it. It's the small / medium defenders we have way too many of and need to cull brutally this year.

I quoted this article the week before the Collingwood v Adelaide game that noted Port and the crows were keeping an eye on Broomhead.
