Strong rumour floating around Glen Eira has been doing a bit of undermining. Story is they have been attempting to induce U17 and U19 players from neighbouring clubs with the view to a start-up U19 team called Old McKinnon. Anyone heard this?

Hi old buddy,
Haven't heard this but will put some feelers out.

Yes have heard it, the Glen Eira President took himself to McKinnon High at a lunchtime this week trying to steal kids from local clubs and especially Ormond, he will get his.

So a club president makes a pitch to kids from a local high school in an effort to get an U19 team up and running. And the problem is?

Unless he offered inducements then what’s the big deal? If neighboring clubs run a good show then they should have nothing to worry about.

AM, what inducements were offered?

A while back on these boards it was said that in order for Glen Eira to survive we would need to develop juniors.
We tried that and Ormond led the charge in blocking our application with the Smjfl. We now have 5 junior teams but have to play under the Bentleigh junior football club banner.

So what if our president approaches local kids to play with us, he is doing his best to promote the club and make it successful.

Why wouldn’t you be open and honest and link it to your club -ie Glen Eira U19s – and actually build a team from there?

Would that not be more honorable than setting-up a team under a ruse – Old McKinnon – in an attempt to get students from McKinnon High to think they are a genuine old boys club?

What is honorable about sneaking behind an opposition clubs back in an attempt to lure away players they have nurtured for years under that sort of ruse?

We would much rather nurture our own players but unfortunately for us that is not possible.

Pa

pathetic, congratulations to ge under 15 girls winning a premiership under the bentleigh banner. GE Kudos to bentleigh , they have no fear GE netballers on fire as well
Maybe 1 day you can be a junior club in the Smjfl and then if your seniors get going maybe s switch the SFNL as well

President has also undermined nearby clubs in nurturing young kid with disabilities. Didn't seek permission, consult or otherwise.

But walking in to a school at lunchtime is crap, imagine doing that at Xavs.

Surely you are not comparing a small co-ed school with no particular footballing pedigree or defined alignment to any club with Xavier College?

Are you suggesting he just walked in off the street and started acosting students who looked like they played football or was it a pre-arranged opportunity made through the appropriate channels?

It wasn't done in an appropriate manner Rooster, I can tell you that. You wouldn't like if our Pres did the same at De La , but it wouldn't happen.
Vafaeye you add nothing to this board, you make Canada look like poster of the year.
