Aren't you the one who spouts the "if it plays well, who cares what it looks like?"

All I know is, PS3 get's actual gameplay extra's. 360 doesn't. There is so little difference graphically that not one person would notice it if it wasn't pointed out. I never found myself playing GTA IV and going "DAMN, I WISH THERE WAS ANTI-ALIASING ON THAT ****EN WALL"

And I don't think I'll be saying for RDR "DAMN, I WISH THERE WAS GRASS RIGHT HERE"

God fanboys are horrible :D

I don't see why there's always a massive "nerd war" every time a multiplatform game is released. One game is better looking on one console than the other, big deal. I'm sure there's plenty of games that look better on one console than another console, so how about talking about the actual gameplay instead of trying to compare console e-peens.

This.
The whole xbox vs playstation pissing contest is just freakin lame.

I don't see what people like about this game, looks completely terrible and I don't think Rockstar deserve any money after the abomination that was GTAIV. Also it's obvious that the reviewers were bought out, and that Rockstar were lazy for not improving the PS3 version.

I DEFINATELY will not buy this piece of crap, and I'm embarrased for anyone who does!

Tall poppy syndrome at its finest with the hate for GTA4, was a great game.

Was told by the local EB there is no chance it will leak, they have copies just cant sell them...

I think it also depends if someone else breaks the street date. Because there have been titles in the past where one store (K-Mart most of the time :p) starts selling copies so the other stores are forced to sell too because they'll lose money otherwise.

That's pretty unlikely though so it's more like a small chance than no chance hehe :).

If stores have them in stock, why can't they sell them? Its puzzling.

Because it's part of their contracts that they'll receive copies to sell a game as long as they don't break the release date. Usually they'll get them a few days before so they know exactly how much they have in stock and organise accordingly. I remember the Halo 3 games had a sticker on them that said "DO NOT place on shelf BEFORE September 25" along with some warning.

And it depends on the publisher if they will take legal action or not. Some have let it slide in the past whilst others have come down hard and sued them and no one wants that :).

Glenno23 knows more than me though, so if he sees this hopefully he'll give a more thorough answer.

I think the whole point is though. If you have the game, SELL IT!

Just make sure you have enough of everything organised and ready to go. But there's really no other reason to hold it off if everything is in stock and ready to go out the door.

What you're saying is absolutely true and I completely agree with you. If there's a game that I'm really looking forward to, I want it in my hands ASAP, but I think it comes down to fairness most of the time. Some stores might get a shipment well before others do, and if they start selling it straight away, then everyone is going to flock there and (if it happens consistently) put the other company out of business. I never want to see someone have to close their business, for whatever reason, so if I have to wait an extra day or two to get a game and help those guys out then that's fine by me.

And yes I'm aware that there are alternatives to physically going into a store to purchase, but I'm assuming here most of the game sales happen that way since that's what MOST people do anyway :p.

We has an email sent to us from take 2 saying there is a sTRICT embargo on the date - I could bring it home but I wont. There has been action against stores that have broken dates.

I will get it, eventually, but I'm not fussed on the game at all

I'll be grabbing it from ebay for $55 :thumbsu:

Last time K Mart jumped the gun on a release date they didn't get stock of the next two big titles on that console until it had been out for a month.

As much as we want it now the stores can't take the risk.

Hard to disagree with any of that. GTA IV was a win on Xbox because of the extras and this will be a win for the PS3.

On the release date thing, it's exactly the same situation with film release dates. Every cinema/games store needs a fair chance at attracting customers on their merit, not on an advanced release.

EDIT:
Street date broken!

It's on sale over here now

Damnit, I just checked my local JB and Game and no RDR :(

You pretty much spot on with that. The street date is there so that it can release pretty much at the same time world wide, and to ensure we get our stock in time. If we were to get it delivered the day before, and there was an issue regarding our freight company, we would go without, and thats not acceptable.

A few years back, we got our Mario Kart (Wii) stock a week before and some of our competitors were due to get it the day before, and their train derailed meaning we were the only ones with it in the area. Was quite a nice day indeed.

They sold Fable 2 a week early, got fined 50K per copy sold and didn't get Gears of War 2 for a month.

It is actually in our vendor agreement with each company. If they don't want a game released until, a certain date, we have to stick to it.

Hopefully Game Traders in the city has it out so I can use their buy one get one game free... even if I have to pay $110.
