Red shorts?

Watching the replay - I do like our clash jumper now and think we're really on the right track with it - but with the white shorts and white numbers, is it just a little too red and white?

How would red shorts go? Worth a look I reckon

I wouldn't wear them with our red clash, we would need a new clash jumper imo.

Red shorts and red socks with thin black hoops. If they want a clash strip, give them a proper clash strip!

I've always felt this is where our constitution has simply got it wrong. The most definitive and simple answer to the clash and still completely identifiable as Essendon.

Leave me right out of red with a black sash. Looks very wrong. I like the current jumper. Black lines on the sash could be a little fatter perhaps, not much.

But yeah, would like to see the return of these

I dislike most teams' clash strips, including ours. Only change I could see us making is perhaps go a black sash, but other than that, I don't think we'd get much better than where we are now. Don't like the red shorts, too pyjama-ry. At least we have moved on the from the grey. *shudders*

Genius! Black sash WITH red sash retained. Technically then could make it a nearly full black sash but just add a thin red sash in middle. Stays true to silly constitution

I have never liked the fat sash, although I admit I enjoyed the irony of Jay Neagle wearing it.

I think it's silly that we even wear a clash strip with Richmond. I never once had a problem telling us apart when both sides would wear their standard kit just with black or white shorts.

yeah hate the red jumper as it currently is, could live with something like that tho.

But as others have said, it's ludicrous that clash jumpers are required for Essendon Richmond games...there is no ****ing clash.

I think the whole clash jumper issue is so pointless. We’ve dug our own grave here by refusing to change with the times.

No I don’t believe that clash jumpers are needed for watching the game, but they are a useful tool to allow us to bring out a new exciting guernsey every year. We could have been a leader in this and made a lot of money, but instead we are worried about a constitution and a silly definition that has stifled that opportunity.

All you need to do is look at the way the premier league clubs handle clash jumpers and you’ll realise that we are being petty and stupid. Do you think Man Utd wearing a blue and black away strip means they won’t still called the Red Devils?
