Redbacks 2018/19

Now we're 6 down now

This better NOT be crickets version of that ill-fated AFL GF in '07, surely a heavy loss will NOT scar the Redbacks like it did with Port?

Given we are still a young side compared to the bloody vics, if SA cannot win a Shield title within the next 4 years, then I propose we all head down to $ACA headquarters & trash the joint!!!
There's still many areas of improvement needed;

They need a decent finger spinner, zampa just can hold it tight enough, especially on a flat track. And then doesn't spin it enough when conditions suit.
They struggle against spin, the pace friendly Adelaide oval decks probably isn't helping that any.
The batting is fragile, they need an experienced reliable player at 3. Ferguson needs to either fill that role next year or move on. Must average 40+, same with Cooper if he bats at 6 he needs to score more than he has been.
The form of Travis head is a worry, the big bash & international duty seems to have messed him around. Does captaincy help him? There's probably no-one else to do the job anyway.
Whetherald still looks promising.
Lehmann needs to improve but has had a good year, pivotal in the games we won
Carey is worth sticking with, needs to improve his batting, in fairness to him, he gets left stranded a lot.
Fast bowling is fine

I'd like them to try & recruit someone like Agar, but they'd have to be able to offer him more spin friendly pitches. Helps batting, & good fingerspin option they sorely need.

One of the clubs they tried to make merge became the first club to win all three first grade competitions in one year, whilst the other was semi - finalist in the two day and one day competitions.

Tells you all you need to know. People who were running the process are a bunch of absolute morons.

If Head really wants to lead SA to a well, overdue Shield title, then I personally think he should give up playing T20 cricket immediately, the latter format is simply no good for him regardless of the almighty dollar. His teammates should follow suit

So you want him to sit around and twiddle his thumbs for 6 weeks in the middle of summer?

Obviously it was good to make the final but really it was on the back of a outstanding season from Sayers and other other bowlers.

We need to do something about the batting. Time to move a couple of senior batsman on who don't deliverer often enough.

Yeah. Don't guarantee selection but they're worth having around.

Through from memory Cooper wasn't contracted for last season anyway.

Yeah that's true.

Also, while Valente played well in last years Matador Cup we could use a better all rounder. Unless Head's available.
