I'd take Cosgrove over Quiney, no questions asked. At least Cosgrove is steady with his 30s and 40s, not on the downward slope like Quiney. And there's no point having two average 30 year old openers in the one side - or 32 in Quiney's case. Blood a youngster at the other end.
Quiney has 272 runs @ 45 this season. Cosgrove 264 @ 38. Cosgrove made 9 runs @ 2 in the Matador Cup. Quiney 117 runs @ 29, with 2 50's. Quiney's been far better this season than Cosgrove and I guarantee most would take Quiney because he has better leadership skills, more professional and just in general has outperformed Cossie over the past 4 years barring 2013/14.

And I'd still take Cosgrove.

Bringing in Quiney would be an even bigger backwards step than, well, bringing Cosgrove back.
With all due respect Chris, you'd be a fool. Quiney would be the perfect captain for 2 years to let Head develop. Having a basket case heaped on your lap at 21 or whatever will in all likelihood make him worse off. How often has it succeeded? It screwed up White's career, it put Trengove and Grimes for Melbourne back a few years, and it's a massive mistake here.

Chad Sayers tweeted that he's having surgery tomorrow and will miss the rest of the season. Big blow. Hopefully Putland, Richo and Mennie can play out the rest of the season.
Cricinfo reporting that Sayers is out for the season with ankle surgery, bad blow for the Redbacks
Thanks. But was already mentioned on the past page. :D

So will Chuck be back ?
Doesn't sound like it. However SACA are saying he's still head coach, most probably to avoid confrontation until something is official.

Who would you go for as coach ?
I really wouldn't have a clue. Knowing the SACA they will probably go with an untried coach who has played about 10 FC games. Although, I wouldn't mind having a dip at Gillespie, even though chances would be extremely slim.

Who would you go for as coach ?
Big Tom Moody - international and domestic experience

Simon Helmot would be worth a chat, done a long and successful apprenticeship in a successful era for the Vics and has coached his own teams, but with a young leader you need a wise head as coach, this Big Tom.

I'm in agreeance with you.

So what another 20 years at the bottom?

It's a role that appears to fit comfortably with the halls of SACA. I've seen that many talented young players slaughtered by our inept system that I've lost interest. Thank God NSW is there as always to prop up the national team.

Many have chosen the career without the bat and ball by the looks.

Watching the press conference, I had something hit me... could Botha himself be the new coach as of next season?
Wouldn't be the worst option.

So it was in the paper that we had to get rid of Botha because Cosgrove will be our international squad member. Cosgrove will be playing county as a local which means he then has to be an international for australian domestic cricket. Does this mean we got rid of both Botha and Klinger to have his fat ass in our Sheffield Shield team?

Also revealed that Botha wishes to stay in Australia and can obtain Australian citizenship in time for the 2016/17 season.

Baffling decision. If Botha wishes to continue playing why not keep him as an international for another season and then after that he can play as a local.

Also here's the squad for the next SS game

Travis Head (C)
Tom Cooper
Mark Cosgrove
Callum Ferguson
Trent Lawford
Tim Ludeman
Joe Mennie
Gary Putland
Kane Richardson
Alex Ross
Kelvin Smith
Adam Zampa

In: Richardson, Ross, Zampa
Out: Botha, Raphael, Sayers

I assume Smith opens and Ross bats at 6 with Lawford the 12th man.

That's crap. Were SACA aware of this when signing him? If so that is a terrible call to bring him back.
