One of the most successful drafts, with an impressive 27 players going on to play more than 100 AFL matches, and a remarkable 3x 300 gamers. You will see my slight bias towards the top key position players.

1) Adam Goodes
2) Simon Black
3) Brad Ottens
4) Matthew Scarlett
5) Luke Power
6) Chad Cornes
7) Nick Stevens
8) Trent Croad
9) Travis Johnstone
10) Nathan Thompson
11) Chris Tarrant
12) Shane O'Bree
13) Andrew Kellaway
14) Nathan Brown
15) Rowan Jones
16) Dean Solomon
17) Richie Vandenburg
18) Brodie Holland
19) Ian Perrie
20) Jason Saddington
21) Mark Bolton
22) Shannon Watt
23) James Walker
24) Kris Massie
25) Andrew Williams

As always with these lists the idea is to promote discussion (and a bit of nostalgia), so if you disagree with a player's position suggest why, and who you would rank higher or lower!

For arguments sake, Melbourne had pick one that year and in hindsight, Black was a much better midfielder then Trav ended out being.

I would say given a second chance, Melbourne would have taken Black, leaving Goodes for North.

My top 10 would be:

1. Goodes
2. Scarlett
3. Black
4. Cornes
5. Croad
6. Ottens
7. Tarrant
8. Power
9. Stevens
10. Johnstone

For me it goes, my top 4, then it falls away a touch, then 5 -9, then it falls away again to Johnstone.
