But bringing this back to footy, have some news on a Adelaide player drafted in 2004.

I know Nathan Van Berlo's old man pretty well, and he is telling me they are looking to negotiate a long term contract to stay at the crows.

Nathan loves it there his best mates are bernie vince and david mckay and he hopes to captain the crows one day soon.

So is looking at a 3 or 4 year deal if he can get it.

VB will be up against Thompson for the next captaincy, which will last 2-3 before Dangerfield gets the reigns IMO.

Yeah, Bate is a very good player to my mind. In an elite team, he could really be a great contributor.

I think as our midfield improves, his stocks will rise as you put it. Apparently he is looking exceedingly fit at preseason training as well, so definitely one to watch next season.

Ha ha which player hasn't come out and said that atm as long as they are not injured???

Decent player Bate, but I had to laugh at the quote. Seriously every AFL player is having there best ever pre season!

Whilst he's a no frills fullback, I'm not seeing a lot of love for Matty Warnock. He's come on immeasurably over the years and has finished top 5 in our last 2 B&F's (which isn't presently a glowing endorsement).

Agreed. Not sure why people say he had a bad year last year. 2008 was just an amazing year, so people mark him against that.

Franklin is a clear number 1 in this draft by a huuuuuuge amount.

I think Griffens potential is great but he is yet to reach it. If he does well he might get to number 2 but atm he is more like number 5 or 6

Well he is not at the moment and has alot of work to do this season to work his way into No.2
