Redo the 2009 draft.

Is Sheppard highly rated by WC supporters at this point in his career? From what I've seen he seems to struggle at the pace of AFL level. From the very little I've seen.

Was great in 2010 and 2012, 2011 he struggled with injury and was poor. Injury cruelled him again this season, but he excelled in his opportunities.

Confident he will be a good B-grade player.

Highly rated by most with a brain. Was best 22 in the second half of the season when he was given more freedom on a half forward flank before he copped an injury.

There's an interview with Worsfold earlier in the year talking about when he was drafted, he was drafted as a '4 year down the track player', someone who'll really hit his stride in his early 20's and he placed him within the future midfield group. Most of us hope he'll end up on the wing with the ability to play on the flanks when needed (much like Embley at his prime). He's quick, highly skilled and really improved his intensity this year. Will he be a top 7 pick? Probably not, but he'll play a lot of games for us.

Yep fair enough. Haven't seen enough of him apart from his first two years. Sounds the goods.

I don't need to prove anything to you. Who are you that I should need to impress?

Your hypocrisy has already placed you several tens of IQ points below discussion worthiness.

No.

Keep checking in case a person capable of adequate conversation skills happens upon this thread. You might just fluke it for a response.

The purpose of this board is actually for debating football topics. Just keep that in mind champ.

I saw him mostly in 2011 and thought he was pretty poor. That would explain it.

Virtually every game he's played has been with 2 solid forward targets and a superstar mid-sized forward/mid so he's always copped a 3rd or 4th string defender..
I don't think you get it when he has played Menzel shared the forward line with Vardy/west and pods while
Johnson has not played regularly in the forward line since 2010. in 2011 Hawkins and Mooney were playing VFL and Hurley and Ryder I would take ahead of Vardy and pods from 2011

There you go. Struggled with a pretty bad back injury all year and was average.

Is also considered ill-suited to playing as a defender. He's only really been released forward of centre in 2012, and he was solid -> great at times at AFL level. :thumbsu:

Well there you go. Will watch him with interest in 2013.

What have Vardy and West got to do with it? They didn't play heaps in 2011... and through the ruck more than forward.

I don't even really know how you're ignoring this, but every game Menzel played he has lined up with ~50 per year goalkickers and a reasonably solid forward structure (Hawk didn't kick bags, but he still did a job). Plain fact, you can check it for yourself.

Hawkins didn't kick bags as he played in the VFL for half the season and vardy and West took the second tall spot (Vardy first then he got injured then west). In 2011 we had a constantly changing forward line with Pods being one of the few people who were constants in our forward line

^ Cunnington at 10 and no Bastinac. Notice that he isn't a North Melbourne supporter?

I actually rate cunnington above bastinac. Has a higher ceiling and does have a better inside game, just needs to sort out his consistency.

next 3 would be:

11. Christensen
12. Bastinac
13. Duncan

so it's pretty close

Yeah no argument there. Cunnington more upside. I'd probably throw Duncan at 11 though.

Like Duncan alot, was a toss up, whenever i saw any geelong matches christensen just stood out more I guess that's why i had him there.

Menzel could trump the lot though could be the next stevie j

Christiansen can be brilliant and could (could as in slight possibility) be the next Ablett, Duncan though has been a lot more consistent, particularly this season as Christiansen was suffering from some injuries.

Let's wait and see how he goes in 2 years time when 8-10 more blokes have retired.

Hawkins played 18 games in 2011. Look it up.
For comparison, Hurley played about 12 games forward line, missed 5-6 injured and ran the year out in the backline.
You're talking out your arse.

3 of those games were finals when Menzel got injured. Hawkins missed 7 games in 2011 during the middle part of the season when Menzel was playing most.
Hurley also played 18 games but essendon only missed 5 games and even when he was out Hille and Ryder (an experienced Forward/ruck and forward (who occasionally plays ruck) in his prime) would have been given a bit more attention then Vardy and Pods (a 19 year old ruckman who can play forward and a 30 year old forward in his second year).
And if Hurley ran out the year in defence how did he kick, 2 goal (rd 27), 3 goals (rd 18), (rd 19 dnp), 1 goal (rd 20), 4 goals (rd 21), (rd 22 dnp) and 4 (rd 23) in your final home and away matches

Fingers crossed we see the best of Morabito this season...an absolute monster and could definitely push his way back into the top 10 of this draft at least

I get an awful feeling he'll be the unlucky one in that initial top group who has the attributes but not the body to hold up.

Maybe wishful thinking but I really feel he has just been unlucky. No massive history of injuries as a junior and is very solidly built, but anyone can do an ACL. He does need to work harder though, but his body is up to AFL.

Morabito is coming . . .

Matty Boyd, Mitchell, Bartel, Dalsanto, J.Selwood, J.Kennedy, Watson, S.Thompson say hi

It's appropriate you mentioned Bartel as before the 2009 Draft, experts likened Trengove to the Geelong No. 3.

Why are people including Barlow and Crameri?

They were both in the Rookie Draft.

FWIW:

My top 10 2009 Draft picks born in 1991.

01 Nathan Fyfe.
02 Dustin Martin.
03 Jack Trengove.
04 Mitchell Duncan.
05 Ryan Bastinac.
06 Ben Cunnington.
07 Sam Reid.
08 Tom Scully.
09 Allen Christensen.
10 Daniel Talia.

Melksham, Butcher, Rohan, Harwood, Vardy, Carlisle, Menzel and Tapscott a bit stiff.
