Walsh has been good for us but he's probably peaked already. Can see Stocker overtaking him when they're both in their primes.

Peaked? He can be a top 3 player in the comp easily in a few years. Stocker will be solid but get to nowhere near that level.

Anyone that doesn't have Thomas in the top handful hasn't watched him enough this year. His scope of improvement has been incredible.

He basically has every tool to become an elite midfielder of the competition.
- 191cm
- Elite Skill
- Elite Pace
- Elite Composure
- Kicks Goals (3rd highest ranked for mids in the competition)
- Strong defensively & Elite tackler

Is already a 20 disposal 2 goal player at 21 years of age in an 18th placed side.

He'll be the best footballer on our list in a couple of years, if he stays with us. First player I've seen for North in a long time that I think could become a superstar of the comp.

I rate him highly has huge potential and looks really good ball in hand.

Needs to find the ball more and have consistent impact across 4 quarters to challenge the best mids in this draft (Walsh, Butters, Smith). Has only cracked 20 disposals once in 2021.

Accumulation & engine his areas of improvement. Doesn't have the engine of the others yet.

Since moving into the midfield 5 weeks ago, he's averaging 18 disposals & 1.8 goals. I'd argue the accumulation is easier to address then the goal kicking midfield factor.

Agreed. Still has to actually do it though to climb up much further in the draft rankings.

Bit harsh on Cunnington!

Cunners is a superstar, as are Goldstein and Tarrant. But they were drafted in the 2009, 2006 and 2007 drafts. The 2010s were a pretty foregettable drafting period for North, which is why we hit rock bottom once the generation of players like Boomer, Petrie, Wells, Firrito etc. left.

He's never going to be a 35 disposal winner, if he does, he will win a few Brownlows.

Since moving into the center square role, he's kicking more goals than when a permanent forward at almost 2 goals a game.

I think he has as high a ceiling as anyone in this draft and he's starting to realise it.

He's nowhere near the finished article either physically.

He probably projects to be a 23-25 disposal winner in his mid 20's, if he does that and manages to kicks 30+ goals a year, that's an incredible midfielder....

Dusty has kicked 30+ in 3 seasons and they were all 24+ game seasons. He's also only averaged 25+ disposals a game in 5 of his 12 seasons.

Thomas is a similar high impact, goal kicking midfielder by the looks. He may even kick 30+ this year the way he is going atm. He will completely burst a game open soon with a 4 or 5 goal game from midfield imo.

Yeah totally agree it’s just hard to put him ahead of the likes of Walsh, Butters and Smith at this stage.

Probably sits just behind Rozee and ahead of Rankine at this stage when ranking the mids from the draft.

Yeah, he's not ahead of them on body of work. Not claiming that.

I don't really care where people rate him tbh, he's projecting to be a mid 20's disposal 1+ goal a game midfielder with elite skills.

The names that fit in that category in recent years are basically limited to Dustin Martin, Marcus Bontempelli and Robbie Gray.

Walsh is already a mature body and doesn't really have anything to iron out.

Stocker has an incredible kick and is really hard at it. It's just his tank holding him back. It may take a few years but he COULD overtake Walsh if things go right. Higher ceiling.

At the time of the draft, a friend of mine who was q recruiter at an AFL club said they thought Thomas was the best player in the draft... and they wouldn't want him at their club.

Make of that what you will but the first part might be coming to fruition. It might almost have been good for him to struggle for a bit first too...

Jones shows flickers of hope in games, where you see things where you think this guy can play, I'd like to see him play on the ball now.

I will say though this could be the draft that got away from the crows, the SA under 18 team was elite and you picked none of that talent, nor did you try trade up to get Rankine and luko.

McHenry is improving and scholl and butts look good, but where's hately this year? He looked a player at gws now hes struggling to get a game. The crows are an interesting side, they have some good young players, they have some players who you think why can't they get a game consistently, and you have list vloggers that are playing well and veterans turning back the clock, I think you are one of the most watchable sides in the AFL and really interesting list

Ah, the 2018 draft.

Very good value out of the late/rookie picks (Sholl and Butts both look like they'll have a very good career), middling value out of the mid picks (both Hamill and McHenry look like they'll be long term players, just not stars) and even in SuperDrafts, top 10 picks fail, and we've got the most likely candidate of that at the moment in Jones.

It's a very backwards draft for us at the moment.

Had to rerank though, at this point my top 10 would be:

B King
Walsh
M King
Smith
Butters
Lukosious
Duursma
Rowbottom
Sholl
Quaynor

11-15 are Rozee, Thomas, Jordon, Butts and Rankine. In whatever order you feel like, but you could also justify moving Duursma, Rowbottom, Sholl, and Quaynor down to these points to select any of those 5. They're all pretty fluid.

Pretty common knowledge that he was quite immature when he walked into Arden Street. Fair to say he’s taken some big steps in terms of his professionalism in the 3 years he’s been at the club & is currently doing a lot of mentoring to 2020 draftee, Phoenix Spicer.

To be fair, Adelaide did try and trade up, including making the move up to 13 and adding the second first round pick it would have taken.

The problem was that GC ended up with 2,3 and 7 and no need to trade down. St Kilda and Carlton were quite adamant they were staying for Walsh/King, and Port beat the Crows to it and made multplie trades up to get Rozee at 5.

Yup, there are flashes that he has a bright future, but Jones has really been our rebuilds problem child so far. Seeing he really just fell apart as a footballer last year, and was looking broken at the start of this year (to the point we took him with Tasmania with our squad in round 5 just to get him to see his family for a weekend to reset... and yes, that was the week we got in a bit of hot water for having an injured Lynch as the sub). At the moment, it's probably a case of leave him in defence and just see how Chayce goes for the back end of the season. Though the 2nd half against Collingwood was rather promising seeing where he was at. Maybe consider a switch to the wing in 2022, which is where I reckon he ends up.

I'm not particularly sure with Hately, whether there are genuine issues, or this is just bad luck. He had a groin injury in the early part of the year (and potentially off-season) which has slowed him down, and didn't really take his chances when he had them early. Another factor was Sam Berry overtaking him, as well as the unexpected rise of Ben Keays (still shocks me to a degree with how consistent he's been). Hately probably needs to begin to lock down a best 22 spot in the back half of this year though, or else he could be in real strife. After all, Pedlar is getting closer to a debut, and we have to be going hard at midfielders in this draft. There isn't that many holes in the KPs (or KP prospects).

I mean, we did try. Gold Coast was never going to move either of those picks, seeing they do have a love affair with SA boys. The '18 draft looks ok at this point though, which considering how rough it was reading a year ago, I'm taking it and running.
