Mobbs
A Large Portion, Yes
The Fitzroy reds made an imposing statement on Saturday.
After struggling to shake off an inspired last quarter comeback from Bentleigh/South Oakleigh/Patterson/Coatesville Demons AFC, the team climbed the stairs of the old stand, stood behind the 'Mighty Fitzroy Reds' banner, and hurled out the team song unto all below them.
While some may have labelled this quirk as the markings of the VAFA's most prominent media tarts (me? of course not!), it seemed to be an announcement of challenge. One could have read between the lines : Bentleigh (/South Oakleigh/Patterson/Coatesville), you are beneath us. We're up here. That's where we are. You look like ants down there.
The pride, and perhaps a little arrogance, of the reds, are quickly helping to make them known as a, nay THE, most formidable power in football today.
'tis grouse.
