Reece Conca: My word that was bad...

Dog act, should get 8 weeks minimum for being a campaigner. No surprise it's a Richmond player though.
Was worse then Vickery's, with the maliciousness of chasing the bloke to the bench to punch him.

I would like to see him get a disrepute charge so they can throw out the bullshit gradings.

This wasn't heat of the moment pushing or tagging. Even with Staker he was right there with Hall so Hall was frustrated. With Vickery they were ruck duelling. No, Conca ran to get Smith who was not in his vicinity to hit him from behind with no warning.

I'm sick of incidents in the AFL which if happened in a nightclub you would hope the person involved would get arrested for assault.

Something might have happened while him and Smith were going at it.Just because Dwayne Russell said he didn't see anything then we must take his word for it.Not sure why Conca would go off his head like that if it was just your stock standard rumble. If it was unprovoked of sorts then yep throw the book at him.

I have no problem when he gets rubbed out,My issue is for people to assume that he did it for no reason on the back of Dwayne Russell,s observation.

Well, unless what Smith did was much earlier, then Dwayne Russell was right and we're not blindly agreeing with Russell, most have watched the immediate footage before and after. Pretty sure there's footage of some normal push-and-shove going on, Smith runs over, pulls Conca to the ground, Conca gets up, Smith grabs him and pulls his jumper over his head, and jogs towards the boundary line. That was it. Conca then runs after him and as he's on the interchange line, goes at him.

I've watched the footage fairly closely and can't see anything from Smith that warrants a response like that, no kicking/scratching/face contact from Smith. All he did was take Conca out of the push-and-shove like happens 5 times a week and then pulled his jumper over his head.

Both Hall and Vickery's punchs showed the difference between an average person, and someone who knows how to throw a punch. Correct me if I am wrong but both of them have had some sort of boxing training no?

While I'm not quite sure about the rest, I did agree with this
No, Conca ran to get Smith who was not in his vicinity to hit him from behind with no warning.
meaning it should be treated more seriously than oh intentional 2 weeks. He actually chased him so he could get to him before Smith went out of play. He had to actively chase after him otherwise he wouldn't have got there and he wasn't prepared to let it go.

Dwayne didn't say nothing happened. He said nothing that could have happened would justify the retaliation. Meaning no matter what Conca can't justify it.

Vickery seems to be more known for his boxing exploits which is an obvious indictment on his ability as a player.

Pretty sure most AFL players have boxing training, or at least very regularly do sparring. That's enough to know how to throw a decent punch against the average person.

Really weak, closest thing to a fully committed king hit I've seen in the AFL in years. Also, to say it was a forearm is diminishing the truth of it, that was an elbow to the back of the head.

Vickery's dad is the boxing coach. But it's way overplayed that he had some special training to KO Cox. He was watching the ball, moving his feet to win the hit out and didn't even have his fist fully clenched. Sure he meant to get him but there's no way he used special boxing technique to lay him out. Hall on the other hand, that was a flush hit straight on to Staker.

it takes you going back to 1985 to find something comparable to this weak dog act? A more recent example: Ty Vickery last week.

You think what Conca did is "comparable" to what Matthews did?

And no, Ty Vickery isn`t a more recent example of what Matthews did either, the 1985 incident is in a category all on its own.

FWIW, I thought Vickery should have got 5 weeks and Conca should get at least 2 or maybe 3 weeks.

HE should get 5 weeks simply for the cowardliness of the hit. Bump him sure. Push in the back? Eh maybe. But strike his head? Not cool. Hope to never see something like this again

Conca is fortunate that it didn't seem to cause any significant damage which will be the one thing that might save him from a significant suspension. Really bad look running after smith like that as he was going off the ground but was out of character for conca, just a horrible brain fart

In the round about way of going to the tribunal Vickery did get5 weeks, down to 4 for pleading guilty.

Not a good look from Conca and I expect he'll have a few weeks off. Two questions though...

1. Are people really calling this and the Vickery incident "king hits"? Neither was anything close to being a king hit. Kids these days. Soft. Hate to see how some of you people would cope with an actual king hit.

2. What is a campaigner and why is Big Footy the only place on the internet where I see that word used every 5 minutes?

Not king hits. Probably better described as cheap shots especially concas

Campaigner is the swear filter substitute for c*nt

Vickery's no. But Conca's was along the lines. A queen hit so to speak. You run up behind someone and nail them from behind, that's all part of a king hit. And I'm pretty sure the whole problem with a king hit is that you can't 'cope' with it. You get no warning or chance to defend yourself and if the person hits you sweet enough you get KO'd and whatever happens to you from there is all luck.

Anyway that's why the King hit has been rebranded as the cowards punch. And Conca can be described to have given a moderately forceful cowards elbow.

A coward dog act from another Richmond thug.
