And that's the issue. Even at pick 7 with knowledge that Boyd, Aish, McDonald and Scharenberg will all go prior, its a gamble that the Larke medallist will be passed over by 2 other clubs.

So likely to go pick 5-7ish Bond? If so, who's your second preference for our first pick? Acres, or even Garlett?

Don't see what you see, so I too hope it goes no further. All I see is a player who butchers the ball a lot. I'd take him if the cost wasn't high but absolutely not for one of our young guns nor would I want to trade this years rd 1 draft pick.
You need to watch a few more Tigers games. Conca is coming on in leaps and bounds. I rate him as the second best onballer Richmond have. Better than Deledio and others. Stands up under pressure and is a very good decision maker. Not flashy looking but (possessions) just racks them up and doesn't butcher like you say. He is a gun. I wont go into trades as I just don't want to lose him.

Just thinking out loud here but would an exchange of first round picks and a fringe player or our second round pick get it done?

If we fall to a pick in the 7-10 range would this be overpaying for Conca straight up?

Considering how many clubs beneath us are craving for KPP'S and this is looking like a midfielders draft it is very likely we may be lucky enough to have someone of real quality slip to us between 7-10.

However since there are so many midfielders, if we could pick up Conca and still have a pick later in the first that would be ideal.

I still don't think he will leave Richmond though.

I'd agree with this. Very good midfielder and would be a good in for us if this does come to fruition (sadly for us and not for the tiges I have doubts it will).

Don't want to lose Conca (don't think he will leave personally but obviously won't count my eggs until he hopefully signs).

On this Dom Sheed - no idea who he is (assuming another gun WA midfield draft prospect?), if you ended up with pick 8-10 (and Sheed is touted to go 6-7ish), couldn't you guys try and make a trade with one of the teams above you in the draft order - they might be happy to drop down a few places for your first pick and a sweetener perhaps.

the only way we would get conca for any reasonable price is if he was desperate to come home.By all accounts he is pretty happy over there so cant see it happening

What do you guys expect? For us to get Dane Swan or Ablett? Conca is only 20, I think he's a great fit for us. Means in a few years our entire midfield will be 23-25. Should we gamble on a draft pick? I don't think so. Just a question, is conca at 20 better then shuey, selwood, gaff at 20? If the answer is yes, then we need to get him.

Callum Twomey did a mock draft of the first 20 picks, interestingly had sheed at 17....

Bet he looked at his injury status and thought he would slide without looking into it

collarbones dont really affect much at all. He will be able to run in a few weeks so wont lose any match fitness, only potential problem is if he keeps re breaking it

From a Richmond supporter's perspective, Conca is absolute gold.

The vast majority of us rate him in the top two/three best of his draft year. We wouldn't bother with players like Brown or picks lower than first round. For a straight swap, we'd probably expect the quality of a Gaff/Darling because that's the same value we put on Conca.

That said, word is that he's really happy in Melbourne so I doubt this will go any further.
Vanilla - we have plenty so I don't see him as being what we need. Just may be available.

also the salary negotiation ruse sounds likely

Exactly but i bet they didn't look into the injury and just presumed he would slip down the pecking order.

Thats exactly what AFL Insiders said during the week, they rated him second to Cotchin as a pure mid fielder. They used the term "Gun"

Tiges will do everything to keep him.

Wouldnt say an average of 20 posessions a game is racking them up? He's had 1 game with over 22 disposals this year. In fact he's never had 30 or more disposals in his career
