Very little chance of him leaving but if by some minute chance he says he wants to go home and chooses WCE I'd say we would be looking for a ruckman type as Maric has groin issues and won't get any younger and Orren is already 30+.

Re sheed - How big and/or fast is he? From all reports he's WA's best mid and a gun. But if he's small and short with average pace like the rest of our midfield right now, surely we would pass?

Lycett's the best young ruckman in the league.
If WCE where to trade him today we would get a top ten pick for him.
GWS couldn't throw there pick 10 at us quick enough for Lycett if WCE where to trade him.
The fact there the ruck draft depth this year is shit and next year not much better, and good
rucks always command good draft picks.
The lack of quality rucks available makes him worth even more.

I agree and don't deny that quality rucks are hard to come by - Still a very big risk to trade an up and coming mid who's nearly played 50 games for an unproven ruck who's played what 4 games? You couldn't call him "the best young ruckman in the league" based on that.

If we were to trade for a ruck type id much rather it with someone with a few more runs on the board like a Bellchambers.

I don't think the tiges will agree with your valuation of Lycett, so a deal probably won't happen involving him if the eagles rate him as highly as you. We would expect a ready made ruckman to be involved in the trade, not a prospect, that wouldn't suit where our list is at.

What's the general perception of the likes of Sheed and Dunstan then? Most on here have them top 8 but more 'esteemed' sources like the afl.com.au article posted seem to place them around the 15-20 range.

Recruiters always play their cards close to their chest & different guys have different thoughts which is only natural. However the basic thoughts indicate a leader, followed by a group of 3, followed by a group of 6-8, then the rest. Sheed & dunstan are in the group joined by 4-6 others.

However be aware that they will create a preliminary list & then trawl through games & wait for DC to test their theories about certain players to see whether their initial thoughts (after the carnival) are correct. Speed & kicking efficiency are the 2 tests that can make or break a kid at DC.

Rucks and KP forward are worth more than mids, remember the Pies paying pick 11 for Cam Woods from the Lions, Lycett is at a very similar stage as Woods was. Cox has one season left so only for the right deal will Lycett come into the equation.

Mitch Brown and Ash Smith are potential trade options this year so it will be interesting what they could net the Eagles to on trade or if the Tigers would be interested in either.

Brad Sheppard is also at an interesting stage, #7 pick that seems to regularly come into and out of the side but can't cement his spot. Tends to pick up a minor strain and gets left out. Not sure what currency he holds.

I think the club will hold onto its #1 pick, too many good midfielders to chose this year to give it up unless the deal was for a superstar.
